I had a friend who had the brilliant idea to scare his wife when she came home unexpectedly by hiding in the bedroom closet. It wasn't until she was in the room blissfully unaware that the gravity of his decision hit him and he found himself in an absolutely unwinnable situation where he had to as gently as possible emerge from his hiding spot without traumatizing her forever. The characters in this movie are constantly pulling pranks like this that if thought about are downright psychotic. FUN!

Em honra de James Caan (1940 - 2022). Isso parece as coisas que eu escrevia quando era adolescente, ou seja, bem tolinho, não me espanta que seja o único filme do Harrington para um grande estúdio, por isso a domesticação. BlurayRip RARBG.

Very well stylized with a great story. Although predictable at parts, it was still suspenseful and surprising.

A mystery-thriller set in the upper east side between 5th and Madison, plays around with the tell-tale-heart trope for a while, and has Simone Signoret, but is ultimately rather tame, predictable, and forgettable.

The surprise ending isn't all that surprising, but Harrington directs with such straightforward concentration and elegance that this film often looks more like Chabrol than "Sleuth." Caan and Ross are good, Signoret is excellent, and the art direction gives us a house with atmosphere--an ideal setting for the "games."

Very intriguing early on, and the gaudy house is wonderful, but things become horribly predictable about 40 minutes in. I was hoping so much that I'd be thrown for a loop, but nope, it goes just as I thought. In spite of this, it's still really pleasing to watch.
