Wants to be funny, but just can't do it. Even if you catch all the references, you feel don't feel guilty for laughing. No, you just feel pity that you even let yourself.

A great send up of role playing gamers, which is funnier the more you understand of the subculture.

Kinda-sorta-not really funny

It's a good premise, but as a lifelong tabletop RP'er, I can tell you exactly why this movie wasn't funny or entertaining. No one--and I mean no one--cares how awesome, tragic, nerve-wracking, or hilarious the last session was if they weren't playing. And the lead actors here seem too self-aware to sell the comedy anyway. Points for getting John Heard, though; he's always good.
