Gamera is way too civil of a monster. If you had to crash at a kaiju's apartment, he'd be the kind of dude to give you a quilt and cook breakfast in the morning. Godzilla would let you sleep under his porch with a 72% chance he'd just set you on fire. That being said, I'm a sappy idiot, so yeah, I liked this movie.

If it had been 2 hours of the cute live turtle playing baby Gamera with the beautiful orchestral soundtrack backing it, this would have been a great movie. Instead, there's very few, very short-lived monster battles, and overdrawn emotional bits that are worse than what comes out of most run of the mill chick flicks.
