This is just bad, just downright bad. Almost all the footage inserted in the beginning is so obviously not shot for this film it's downright laughable. The actor playing Bruce Lee doesn't look like him very much at all, either. It's obviously just a hack attempt to capitalize on Bruce Lee's fame after his death. It takes a full hour and twenty minutes to get the fight scenes that Bruce Lee is really in, which is the only reason to watch this. If you do see this, skip to that part.

Some nice Bruce Lee footage inserted into a generic kung fu movie where a poor look alike (often wearing sunglasses or filmed in shadow) substitutes for him. Bruce Lee's films often had cliched and predictable plots, but it was his technical skill and magnetism that made them classic. This is not a Bruce Lee film.

Terrible editing, terrible acting and mediocre writing make this pretty much a waste of time with the exception of a couple of fight scenes. Even then most of the fight scenes are just plain boring.

It doesn't really feel right to call this a Bruce Lee film. He died after only filming afew of the scenes. The rest of the film has been made using a dodgy likealike just so the film company could make money. The finished result is a mishmash of good and bad which has nothing inbetween. The best part is the end which has Bruce Lee doing what he does best. It just a same the that couldn't be said about the rest of the film

Bruce Lee's death during the filming of Game of Death didn't stop the producers from throwing together an only partially thought out plot that had little to do with the original storyline. And, though there are scenes that do contain Bruce, most of the film is a bad look-alike. If you rent the film, skip to the end to see the Bruce scenes. His part really doesn't need the "plot" from the first part to play into.

The final couple of fight scenes with the actual Bruce Lee make this film worth it. The parts that were shot after Lee's death are not good and it the first part of the movie is a long haul. Overall this film is worth it only for Bruce Lee fans.

The tragic story behind G.O.D is well documented, but the shameless opportunism is unforgiveable. The body doubles chosen to stand in for Lee don't look, sound or move like him: their fighting technique lacks Lee's precision, skill, agility and grace. Clouse's footage doesn't mesh well with Lee's, and the narrative threads are severly disjointed. The fight scenes with the real Lee are good enough to make you wonder what might have been had he lived long enough to complete it.

The first half of this movie is centered around mobsters sitting around the phone and wishing Bruce Lee would call them, like a really clingy date. 'Bruce Lee''s face is in shadow more often than a nazgul's, and he wears his sunglasses at night, and also all the time. Half of the fights have zero impact to their blows, and the editing is often incredibly sub-par. But, even while the rest of the film is bland, the final sequence of fights are a testament to how incredible Bruce Lee was.

The american version came out alright, but with the stunt double i was truly annoyed, and the ending left an even sour taste in my mouth as i watched that pitiful dummy fall to its death. Meanwhile the original featuring the 5 story pagoda was much more entertaining.

Shame Lee didn't live to fully make this movie awesome, but the fight with Kareem at the end is worth enough in its own.

This is not at all the story Bruce Lee wrote. Unfortunately. Bruce's yellow suit at the end of the movie and the finale in the tower is the film's pièce de resistance. Nice score by John "007" Barry.

Having already seen the final fight scenes w/ Lee, I gave up after 20 minutes. If not for those scenes this would be a complete waste of time. I've read that Lee praised director Clouse for being the only other person who cared about how ETD looked, so I wonder why Clouse was okay with the painfully laughable attempts to convince the audience that a deceased Lee is the main character in this film. Not only is his "lookalike" obviously not Lee, but pasting Lee's face on him?!!? Embarrassing.

It's probably best to just watch the scenes in which Bruce actually appears, which is not to say that his stand-ins don't exhibit some nice moves but they are no dragon and don't possess a fist of fury. I have to say, Colleen Camp as Ann is quite breathtaking even if her acting is not up to scratch.

Viewed April 8, 2022. Famously made after Bruce's death with scraps of unused footage of Lee and a lot of bad body doubling, this toys with some themes about celebrity and disposability, but is so poorly made that it can't help but feel like evil exploitation. And that's before they show Bruce's actual corpse at his actual funeral and try to pass it off as narrative. The 15 minutes of new footage of Bruce, clad in his yellow jumpsuit and facing off against Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, is amazing.

Terrible, incredibly, painfully slow story, terrible fight scenes. Gets 20 points for the Lee-Miller fight which was ok (though wasn't actually Lee I believe), and it takes an hour to get to that. The deaths of the motorcyclists is quite cool but again, painfully slow.

All scenes not directed by Lee are comically horrendous -- replacing him only further proved how he was unreplaceable. While they hacked down his three pagoda fights, they still hold up as great showdowns.

The best thing about this is the yellow tracksuit. It has the production values of a porno and the footage of Lee's actual funeral left a bad taste in my mouth.

This movie is an insult to Bruce Lee! When he died, they should have dropped the project completely, or started from scratch with a different actor. Instead, they tarnish a great man's legacy with body doubles, spliced in clips from his other movies, even footage from his funeral! Game of Death just exploits Bruce Lee's death! Even judging it on it's own merit, it's not a good movie. 35 points for the 11 mins. of Lee's actual footage, 20 points for a few additional decent fights.

The Bruce Lee footage and the later additions fit together so poorly that I'd hardly even call this film watchable. The acting, writing, the editing, and most of all the use of footage from Bruce Lee's funeral and the plot suggesting he faked his own death serve to twist the knife. I enjoyed some of the archive footage fight scenes, but I'd rather see them in DVD extras than in this stagnant, condescendingly stupid film.

Looking at how this was made, this is a Frankenstein of a movie. As a result, the plot kind of jolts along, there's a professional fight to break up the street fighting, no real closure scene with the love interest either. I'm not sure about other versions but the dubbing on mine was awful, Lee's character had this soprano pitch that felt as out of place as his body double. Great choice on the 7"2 Kareem for the penultimate pagoda fight.

Surprisingly disappointed, despite what all the cool emo/indie kids have to say about it. No question, he's a great fighter, but acting/speaking roles aren't his calling. Same with Jet Li, and to a lesser extent, Jackie Chan. Silly plot, co-actors are passable at best, but the fight scenes are decent. Kareem is probably my favourite part.
