Sergio Martino has directed many effective giallo thrillers but he's not as successful with this crime film. Granted, it IS a bit different than your usual Italian crime films as it focuses more on gambling and has a lighter tone, complete with a score better suited for an old gangster comedy. The film gets some darker shades as it progresses and loses it's focus. At least quality cinematography and sets keep it interesting visually.
