Probably best watched as a companion piece to the Netflix series. I watched the whole first season thinking that eveything was completely made up but no, they only barely stretched the truth. This was a real thing! On national TV! The 80s were so unironically campy and I can't believe I missed out on such a glorious decade.

Between all the performers waxing nostalgic, there's really not much insight here. It's great that these women have pride in what they accomplished with GLOW, and professional wrestling has always been and continues to be firmly rooted in vaudevillian camp, but women's wrestling has come a very long way since 1986.

G.L.O.W. was on tv during my prime years of watching wrestling (1986-1990), yet I've never heard of it until now? How can that be? God damn you Mandela Effect!

Fairly standard as a documentary. Gets the basic details down but mostly gushes over the performers. It doesn't do much to explore the downfall of GLOW and it also doesn't explore much of how people reacted to the product. The nostalgia evoked by these women is endearing at first but eventually gets tiring. It doesn't help that the documentary is a bit disingenuous as well - While Glow was notable for its time, women's wrestling is nothing new and was very prevalent in Japan.

I got about halfway through the Netflix series before I saw this documentary pop up as recommended viewing and that was the first time I realized this was real. Watching the documentary after the show, I realized how much of the unbelievable shit from the show was actually true. Anyway, the doc itself is a little interesting, but it spends too much of its run time fawning over the wrestlers being nostalgic. That's only interesting to a point, but the insight into this show is pretty fun.

This is a really interesting documentary. It looks back at an all ladies wresting league from the 1980's. There are plenty of interesting characters and interviews in this film. Overall I would recommend this film.
