Don't let the terrible title and poster fool you, this is a really solid comedy and probably one of, if not, the best Chase has appeared in.

There were a lot of individually funny moments, but I can't help but feel a movie based around the premise of the the last twenty minutes would have been a better idea.

Silly 80's comedy has a few laughs.

Decently funny comedy about Chevy and his wife moving to Smalltown USA. He wants to write a novel, but has trouble overcoming writer's block and the constant interference of the bizarre locals. One of Chase's better flicks.

By far, the funniest testicle eating scene in cinema history. Also, a movie which improves with each viewing, which is rare in a comedy.

At times funnier than expected. George Roy Hill brought some class to the act, downgrading the general assing around aspect. However, I would have expected a bit better structured and more empathetic story to accompany the directors more ’mature’ aspirations.

This was actually quite good. It has a few funny gags and Chevy Chase is his usual self, but the film also has a melancholic tone to it which is probably what attracted director George Roy Hill to the material. If you expect full on comedy, you might be disappointed, but for me it hits a nice balance between comedy and drama.

Chase and Smith Osborne are great as the leads. There's a few subtle jokes that actually work, and I love Yellow Dog. Unfortunately the fish out of water plot is a little played out (even by cheesy 80's movie standards). A lot of the big set piece jokes fail to land and they could have fleshed out the other towns people more. Overall the movie kinda works thanks to a good final act. I'd say any Chevy Chase fan should take a flyer, but everyone else should feel ok skipping this one.

skippable comedy unless you really like Chevy Chase in my opinion

Very poorly structured. Sort of a comedy, but long build-ups lead to almost nothing. In the end, the homeowners blame all their problems on the town, but almost everything is self-inflicted by Chase's being an unbearable asshole (and a fairly dull one at that).

Another one of Chase's '80s duffers that couldn't have taken much longer to write than it does to watch. Couple quit the city for a quiet life in the sticks, and, well, you can guess the rest. There is the odd half-decent scene but in general the gags really do feel insultingly lazy.

It is just another 80's comedy when you break it all down, but there are some good scenes, with the lamb fries fiasco being the most memorable in my mind.

Some of the gags work, but even then, they're mostly stuff you've seen before.

Not exactly a laugh riot but it's got some good funny bits.
