Mostly unfunny and disjointed with some phony social commentary that seems to mask a rather annoying attitude towards poverty and class. Carrey in this role has unique potential to channel some dark frustration and manic rage that could evelate the whole concept but the writers aren't interested in any of that and he just phones in another tiresome performance.

Totally underrated Jim Carrey movie. It seems like it may be mostly unknown. Somehow this wasn't even released on Blu-ray, which I find shocking. Jim Carrey and Judd Apatow. It's an interesting combination for sure, but it works really well, and despite being 15 years old, the movie still holds up really well. If you're a fan of Jim Carrey and haven't seen this, definitely check it out.

A criminally-underrated Jim Carrey gem, I consider Fun with Dick and Jane to be one of Jim Carrey's absolute best comedies, as the humor is able to grow, fester, and develop organically as opposed to just being thrown in your face, which is what you'd typically see with comedies these days. It's also really smart, as it's slightly meta, a general spoof off of what actually happened with Enron. Jim Carrey is PERFECT for this kind of role, and his chemistry with everyone? Perfect.

The story is quite unrealistic, but considering its themes (the suburban and corporate aspects of the American Dream), its extreme highs and lows make it feel more like an appreciably goofy satire than a desperate low-grade comedy. With a good amount of rambunctious plot-based humour (see Dick's illegal immigration and lawn stealing) and a fun go-for-broke premise, this is a decent film, even though it lacks any real character development or narrative depth.

I only watched this a couple of days ago and am already struggling to remember a single scene. It can't be blamed for not trying - keeping things fast-moving and light-hearted throughout - but with writing this poor, deciding to sacrifice plot for lame set pieces means it's one nobody needs to see. Surprised to see Carrey has a producing credit here, particularly as he seems to be sleeping through this payday.

I watched this when I was hospitalized for a solid two weeks, and it was one of the only movies I ended up getting to watch. Starved of entertainment and needing some sort of laugh, this really hit the spot. Recently saw some of it again, and while I still thought the duo of Carrey and Leoni (who is so fucking hot) was pretty good, the jokes didn't quite hit the same note the second time around.

This does indeed promise a lot of fun initially, with Dick and Jane’s comic descent to desperate poverty good for some well observed, silly laughs, especially during the deadly comic timing of the “Wal-Mart”/pilates scene. Falls to pieces in the second half, relying on repetitive, disguise-based schtick, always a clear sign that the screenwriters have gone out for lunch! Worthwhile for Carrey and Leoni who are winning together and apart, and light enough on its feet to almost forgive its lulls.

Fairly inoffensive comedy with okay performances from the leads, but watching this got me irrationally upset at the business raiders. Even Dick and Jane, shenanigans aside, were able to weather their financial downfall without too many consequences. It must be nice to be wealthy. Objectively there wasn't much fun or heists. Fav scene: having bank robbers interrupt your bank fraud.

Fun With Dick & Jane for me is Jim Carrey's worst comedy to date and quite simply just didn't make me laugh. Téa Leoni's input is minimalistic and even the likes of reliable supporting actors Alec Baldwin and Richard Jenkins offer little. Instantly forgettable and unfunny by Jim Carrey's standards and I can confidently say I will be in no hurry to watch this film again.

Well, it was nice to see Jim Carrey giving comedy another shot, but I get the feeling the movie wasn't really written with him in mind. It still has some decent comedy to it, but the plot is just... Dumb. I don't know how else to describe it. These characters and situations are just too dumb to be realistic.

I thought this was going to be a comedy and crime movie, but actually it's neither. There is only one funny scene in the film, and the crime parts are just pitiful. The characters aren't really believable either, and their decisions are just bizarre. For some reason the producers decided to just throw away Jim Carrey's talent for comedy and bore the audience with trite social commentary. Take that!, crooked CEOs!

This is ridiculous, but gleefully so, and its airy tone proved an amiable respite to all the more serious, demanding cinematic fare out there during the end-of-the-year award season. This isn't the pinnacle of comedy, to be sure but there is a sense of joy in the performances that is infectious to behold. This movie is a turn-your-brain-off-at-the-door movie, but there is a place for that when it is done well and avoids pandering to the lowest common denominator. This one doesn't.
