The Mickey and the Beanstalk segment is pretty good, but constantly interrupted by the unnecessary ventriloquism bits. The Bongo half is pretty meh. Overall it's OK, but not one you'll rush to rewatch.

"Bongo" is on the dull side, but the "Beanstalk" part is pretty cool. Donald's delirium is so over the top and funny. The live action scenes with the puppets feel unnecessary.

One of the better "package" films that Disney made for reasons of financial constraint during and after WW II. Mickey and the Beanstalk is the stronger of the two featurettes, with Donald and Goofy getting good laughs. Donald's descent into starvation-induced madness deserved an Oscar. The second segment, Bongo, drags a bit, but does benefit from Dinah Shore's singing and narration.

Another package movie from Disney featuring two stories this time. The Bongo story is a bit standard, but passes the time okay. The Jack and the Beanstalk take featuring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy on itself would have been also okay, if it wasn't unnecessary framed as being told by by a dull ventriloquist (really what is the point of a ventriloquist in a movie in which you can make a animated cricket talk?) with an annoying puppets delivering dumb wisecracks.

Bongo is really, really boring. The Mickey and the Beanstalk half is much stronger, but still meh. One thing that put me off is that the film expects the audience to already know who Edgar Bergen and his dummies were. I'm sure Disney wasn't expecting their films to still be watched 70 years later, but making assumptions of one's audience is never a good idea. The backgrounds in this film are stunning, though.

I spent years thinking I dreamed up that dummy and the talking hand before I found this again

Bongo is boring, the puppets are creepy - really all 30 points are for Donald Duck.

There's not really a whole lot to recommend here. It consists of two 30ish-minute segments, the first about a circus bear trying to live in the wild and the other a retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk" with Mickey, Goofy and Donald. The second is better but neither stands out as anything special.

I like this, as a look at old-timey entertainment-- the way it's presented is kind of novel, for me,-- but the actual films are... lacking.

Wasn't crazy about the first half, but Donald, Goofy and Mickey make this passable overall.

Gotta hand it to Mickey on this one, he makes this film somewhat a must-see.
