A loose pastiche of comedy, drama, action and romance. Like 6ixtynin9, there's a Tarantino-esque quality, but it also has a bit of Chungking Express-style Wong Kar-Wai in there. It never really gels into anything special or meaningful, but the fun moments are really a pleasure, and Ratanaruang's confidence as a first-timer shines through (although he does make rookie mistakes like several shots with visible boom mikes). It's a shame that he's gotten so staid and stuffy lately.
