Set in the northern frontier of Iran, this drolly charming first feature mines absurdist humor and quiet pathos from the immutable routines of a group of men. Against visually serene compositions and a plaintive score, Jalali teases out the intense longing hidden behind his characters' stoic expressions. (sffs.org)

Top badass moment? I like tea and I drink a lot of it. In this film they do too. I thought all they did in Iran was hate on the West and eat their babies, but actually they drink a lot of tea and have a sense of humour that I can relate to. That's cool, because most of the people I actually know don't understand it. I'm a Brit so tea is automatically badass and badass in a way coffee will never be. In fact it's the most badass of drinks; except perhaps cider. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

This film contains references to director's favourite movies such as "Stranger Than Paradise" (the boy with tape which plays French song - Eva and "I put a spell on you"), "Au hasard Balthazar" and "Close-Up" (scene with the guy and his father on the bike with flowers) but the references don't have any function beacasue that is a place where everything is self indulgent and resistent to external references, that's why the photographer tries desperately to capture a lost Turkmen culture.
