I'm not sure what compelled me to watch this but it was not as bad as I expected. The characters were interesting, if simplistic, and the overall story arc was decently done. Still, there was so much wasted material and characters that the movie is never really satisfying.

An outstanding snapshot of 4 women who have love/hate relationships with their lives.

Frustrating rumination on the existential fears and dreads of being white and wealthy – Holofcener’s screenplay seems to believe these people, and their fairly vapid problems, are inherently interesting at face value; a satiric approach would have helped, or otherwise a genuine effort to grapple with middle-class malaise. Ironically, Aniston as the “poor relation” is most interesting and comes off best; the great cast do what they can, especially an exceptional McBurney and McDormand.

This could've been good, but it was not. The story is all over the place by trying to be artistic and the plot holes where too big to ignore making them distracting.

I had not even heard of this movie before. I was pleasently surprised at its approach to its chracters and their relationships. Maybe it could've gone a bit deeper with one less relationship, but overall, it was a very decent watch on relationships.

The cast does a really good job in this movie. The script is also good as it makes most of the characters seem realistic. Overall I would recommend this film.

Un film di cui non si capisce il senso. Cosa ci vuole raccontare? Perchè? Se a questo uniamo dei dialoghi poco brillanti ed un finale inconcludente, direi che sia tranquillamente evitabile.

Dark and interesting and just a tad overinflated.

This is about the lives and relationships of three married couples with money and one working class single woman. And the best thing I can say about it is that it makes the thought of Trump winning the election and starting a world wide nuclear war that will wipe out humanity look rather attractive. It gets two stars on account of not being Salon Kitty, but that's all it deserve.

Not just "white people problems--the movie" but DUMB, CRAZY white-people problems. Somewhat involving, despite the bad writing (the dialogue, for the most part, is terrible). Decent directing (especially considering the bad writing) and okay performances. Except Frances McDormand--she's fabulous.

Dull. Doesn't add up to anything interesting.

This is a story about the long term friendship between 4 very different women. The movie chronicles a short period of time a decade or so into their relationship. While some of the story was entertaining, it was rather uneventful and slow. Mostly the story was unremarkable and showed little imagination. Certainly a better movie could have been made given the caliber of the cast.

Uninteresting & poorly written, it's a shame they didn't do a better job with this premise.

Has some moments where it reveals insights into friendships and how money affects all of us even subconsciously.

the movie treats many interesting topics, however it does not manage to create any suspence or even a climax. And the ending is just ridiculous. Her problems are sudenly solved because she now has a rich boyfriend.. super..

A little sitcommy and kind of insubstantial (though it does touch on some quietly devastating existential and emotional themes), but keenly and (for the most part) believably written. The acting is generally excellent, especially McDormand and McBurney. A very pleasant watch, but it doesn't exactly stick to your ribs -- but then, how much of modern life really does? The film seems to be aware and proud of its mundanity, even to the point of bluntly announcing it in its title. I like that.

I don't think I have more fun watching flawed characters just talking than in Holofcener's movies. Frances McDormand's nervous breakdown in an Old Navy is just right.

I wanted to like it more because of Keener, Cusack AND McDormand, but it just sort of fell flat.

A film with many stories, parallel and monotonous. Problems of daily life, without any conclusion or moral. There is no big event, the film does not take off.
