Two is sort of remake of one. Three is a retread of two sans the camp counselor angle. Four is a realization of what worked in the series up to this point and an absolute glorification of those aspects. The kills, characters, nudity are some of the best in the franchise. In a series fascinated with the role of motherhood, this one sure forgets about the character all together presumably offing her off screen. Little orphan Feldman does bald better than Vince Vaughn did in Brawl in Cell Block 99.

This 80's slasher is both the fourth film in the "Friday the 13th" series, and "The Final Chapter" of Crispin Glover's unpublished "How-to-Dance" book. Hockey mask Jason returns for more of the usual co-ed killing spree fun, but this time with a family-next-door thrown into the mix. Add in the hilarious moment when the hunky wannabe Jason "hunter" is getting murdered while literally screaming "He's killing me!", and you get one of the better movies in the series.

If there was a lifetime achievement award for solidifying slasher movie tropes, it would go to the Friday the 13th franchise, with "Final Chapter" being right up there as one of the most horrendous of offenders. Teen sex? Check. Bloody kill following teen sex? Check. High-pitched screaming and poor decision-making? Check. Lone blonde girl survivor? Check. A prepubescent Corey Feldman shaving off his hair in the bathroom while a mass-murdering maniac slays and flays downstairs? Wait...what?

Features one of the most bizarre dance scenes ever. Was Crispin Glover ever normal? This episode ups the gore a bit (a welcome return for Savini's skills), and the nudity (let's have nekkid twins!), and the soon-to-be-dead are more faceless than usual. It's all a bit awkwardly assembled. The ending is fun, though. A pre-Goonies Feldman is just weird. And that lass from Weird Science is in it. I guess this one establishes that Jason is fully indestructible. Final Chapter my arse. Unexceptional.

The fourth installment is something of a rebirth of the franchise, thanks going primarily to the first appearance of recurring character Tommy Jarvis. For the better part of the movie, it seems that it's just going for status quo, but things finally click in the third act and it has one of the most memorable climaxes in the series.

"Dead Fuck" Glover dances! Another enjoyable entry in the venerable series if you have a soft spot for these, with Glover and Feldman bringing some "movie star" distinction to the cast, though Jason's absence from most of the film is disappointing. Focus on Feldman, Beck and Freeman as a genuine family unit is an interesting change from random teens, though their connection with the more typical set next door is never really explained.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is better than the first and third movie in this series, but only because it brings some creativity to the kills. That's quite possibly the only thing that it does better than the other chapters, but that's almost enough. I've gotten tired of seeing Jason cut people with a knife; as evidenced by the film's opening montage, that gets boring really fast. If you want good acting, writing, plot, or scares, you'll want to pass this film by.

(2016 Jasonthon #4:) Much more fun and watchable than previous entries thanks to some slightly different character dynamics - the family living next door aren't going to be confused for lost Dostoyevsky characters, but it's at least something kinda different - and some at least slightly likable characters, including Crispin Glover with his crazy dance and "dead fuck" anxiety. Some quality kills and quality nudity. Still just a dumbass slasher flick, obviously, but a very watchable one.

It's easy to imagine this being the fans' favorite to watch over and over again esp since they don't need to pay attention. It's the slasher formula refined to toxicity. Narratively, it has no odd detours, no mystery, no characters discussing the psyche of the killer. It's just Jason killing dumb & horny teens & even... dumb & horny adults! Everyone is dumb & horny including the coroner. Tommy's mother is "getting horny" and even little pre-pubescent-looking Tommy is excited to see some T&A!

As its name suggests, The Final Chapter was intended to end the series, and its goal was to end it right. Tom Savini returned for this sequel and tops even his work in the original. This movie not only has the scariest appearance of Jason; it also has the best characters in the series. Though still archetypes, they can now qualify as top of the line archetypes. That isn't to suggest it's not a low rate exploitation film. But this movie "perfected" the Friday the 13th formula, if that means much.

Plays suspiciously like a randomly greenlighted script with the killer replaced by Jason. For a large chunk of the running time very little Friday the 13th-related happens, let alone much of anything at all. In terms of gore and aesthetics, this is different as well, playing like a children's film meeting a video nasty. Though they are considerably more gory in this one, I'm not giving extra points for the schlocky slaughters. The end, as is the wont in the franchise, isn't bad at all, however.

Nothing interesting going on here. "OH GOD! HE'S KILLING ME!" Gets points for Crispin Glover, and a few more for his dancing. The ending was pretty good too, and when Jason's face slid down on that machete, I just didn't like the feel of the thing, no camp? Come on!

I don't need to see a guy swim across the entirety of a lake, just show him getting in the water at Point A and arriving at Point B and I can infer that he got there by traditional swimming and that fucking Falcor didn't emerge from the water at some point during the 11 hour journey and offer to let him ride on his back the rest of the way. Crispin Glover was in one of the greatest movies of all time just a year after starring in this wretched sack of shit. WTF?

The best of the bunch...gets a 68. Take a bow, everyone. "Best" might be a little misleading. Let me say this..."least offensive" and "most tolerable" of the series. That's better. But hey, the Crispin Glover dance is in this one. And there was one cool wrinkle that we hadn't seen to that point...the weird-o Jason "hunter" who actually wanted to mix it up with Jason.

How little they knew naming the film "The Final Chapter" only 4 films deep into this franchise. Crispin Glover brings a weird energy to this, as if he was plucked from a completely different film. There feels like more gore and nudity. I am not sure why Corey Feldman dressing up as Jason works, but it does give us the best closing shot of the franchise.

The fourth installment of the Friday the 13th series is probably its first quintessential entry. A solid blend of gore, scares, goofy teen antics, and a wicked dance move make for a well paced 90 minutes. Why does Tommy have to shave his head? Because.

This would have been so much better if at the end when Corey Feldman cuts his hair to look like Jason, Jason wasn't fooled by it. Also what the hell, Jason was so tame in the last two movies this should have been called "Friday the 13th: Jason Goes Ape Shit".

A not as campy but still funny Friday the 13th that has awesome kills and actual character arcs. To bad the story is lacking and feels like a best hits of the first three and Jason's mythology doesn't get expanded; which makes this sequel feel unnecessary. First off, yes, the title is a lie because there were about six more of these movies made. As far as slashers go, most of the Fri.13 movies blend together a bunch of violence with teenage sexual tension and this one isn't really an exception, BUT! You've got Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover (who introduces his infamous spaz-dance). This is probably the most out-right entertaining of the bunch and the best besides the original. If you're going to have a Friday night marathon, skip parts 2 & 3.

This is "the one with Feldman and Glover". Jason just sits up in the morgue. It could either be that they could not feel a pulse in his thick retard neck, or maybe this is the point where Jason becomes a superzombie. His face is way more fucked up than the last 2 movies, which supposedly occurred a few days before. The beginning is too slow, but it is helped along by lots of nudity. A couple of the kills were okay, but this was a very weak movie and it needed better ones to save it.

This is one of the more entertaining horror films I've ever seen. There really isn't anything scary about it, aside from one decent jump scare moment. It features plenty of nudity, gore, and violence, and most of the kills are fairly well executed. Although Parts II and III had far brutal ones. Plus this film has Corey Feldman going completely batshit insane (he shaves his head for one thing), and Crispin Glover dancing like a madman. Worthy only for pure enjoyment, and nothing more.

I'll rate it higher than Part III if only due to Crispin Glover's ridiculous dance. Aside from that it's just unentertaining, unscary, retarded generic slasher trash. I never thought this series was any good in the first place and by now it's clear the sequels are just coasting on the fame of the original without anything new or inventive to add to the series.

The franchise's purported final chapter is probably the most gruesome up to that point. At the same time, it tries to make the characters and dialogue feel a little less feigned than before, and partially succeeds. Other than that, it's business as usual: a bunch of teenagers whose entire existence revolves around sex go on vacation; cue Jason, the puzzlingly undying killing machine that used to have a motive, and it's murders galore. It's suspenseful and fun but is brought down by the finale.

These movies feel like some kind of metaphorical statement or subversion of conventional story telling. They aren't about a feral beast of a man that kills everything in its path but the everyday lives of horny teenagers without parental supervision. It is almost ingenious how the viewer is introduced to a handful of subplots that won't ever get resolved just because some guy with a hockey mask is butchering every character in this film. Doesn't this capture the true essence of life?

Probably my favourite in the series so far. It's between this one and pt 2. This one has the most likeable and somewhat actually developed characters. Zito brings his grimy grindhouse aesthetic to a mainstream slasher and it works well. Having Savini back in the fold doesn't hurt either. Great kills and lots of S-E-X. The opening scene at the morgue and the ending (of course) are two of the strongest in the series. Also, Glovers dance moves. A++

More suspenseful and less gory than the previous entries, and that's why it's also maybe more fun to watch. Storyline is kid of changed with three groups of characters -- horny teens with Glover as DEAD FUCK, family of three with Feldman as the monster lover and the only guy who knows about the killer's legend and is after him. He ends up shaving his head to mirror Jason and kills him off in a rampage. A bit forced, but well-staged and shot. Savini's make-up effects deliver good stuff, too.

Much stronger in my opinion than the third, and even the second. There's some great chemistry among the cast despite their fairly basic characters, and the film on the whole is an enjoyable ride even without much of Jason's shenanigans on screen. The only thing I don't like about it is the final ten minutes or so, which put a bit of a damper on what's otherwise a pretty fun entry.

Though The Final Chapter is considered iconic and quintessential by some, it essentially delivers the same formula as the original 1980 film, but much less competently. The sex-obsessed protagonists are incredibly unlikable, a facet that could have been used to the film's advantage had their deaths actually been surprising or well-timed. Instead, this iteration suffers from horrendous pacing and uninteresting demises. The movie's finale is appropriately violent, but silly and worthy of groans.

We have Jason in the famous hockey mask, a group of teens in an old house, grisly death scenes and over the top characters. This time, though, we actually have a few likable characters.
