I haven't seen the movie, I just hate the way "frida" looks. There goes my sex fantasies of Salma Hayk :(

It's not bad but like a lot of fast moving biopics this seems inappropriately rushed and detached. Hayek and Molina are good, though.

This is quite an evocative film, depicting the titular characters somewhat turbulent love life and the situations she had to deal with, or found herself in. There are a lot of brightly coloured settings and fashions depicted - its a bit of a colourful watch overall I suppose. An interesting biopic, showing how politics affected her life at different times. Yes, I'd say for Salma Hayek's performance, this is worth watching, though the ending did seem a little abrupt.

One needs to make artistic movie when wanting to give a life to artists biography. Here director Julie Taymor succeeds with bringing Hayden Herrera's novel about paintress Frida Kahlo's biography to big screen. Cast is performing well and movie is a bliss.

The performances are fine and there is some drama, but the whole film feels very Weinstein, in the modern sense of the word.

A wonderful performance, but not always a lot to work with. A kind of "Greatest Hits" that never delves into the real complexities and contexts of Kahlo's or Rivera's work. That it's in English, too should be a crime. Kahlo deserves better than her cult.

Unibrow! :P The acting was pretty good (probably Hayek's best!), the story was cool and I love the art - which is also used to explain some of the scenes (very well done!). Plus you get to see Hayek naked ;)

Some beautiful women with sod all else going for it. Unless, of course, you have an interest in the life of Frida Kahlo but I'd never heard of her and no, I'm still not interested.

My girlfriend actually ended up crying at the end of the film, I however did not find the Rivera-Frida relationship to be as emotionally engaging. It's an okay film that does a competent job in portraying the interesting life of a fascinating woman... and that's about it.

By-the-numbers biopic, hitting every necessary character beat to tell the story but feels rather disconnected. Things happen because they have to rather than as part of a narrative. Hayek and Molina are good but so much more could be done with the story - Taymor makes good use of colour but the largely pedestrian direction feels like this is a made for TV drama rather than the life of a colourful and brilliant artist.

Vivid, colourful film (as expected from director Taymor) which holds together very well until the last 45 minutes or so when the episodic seams of the screenplay start to show and it becomes bogged down with too much incident (eg. the haphazard Trotsky sequences). What is left is quite wonderful, with Molina and Hayek's exhuberant, energetic performances owning much of the credit for the film's success. Fleeting cameos by Norton and Rush suggest extensive footage was left on the editing floor.

Works great as a movie, but mostly because Hayek created such a passionate and lovable character. Great supporting cast, too.

An appropriately artistic film about the Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo. Stunning photography and design are complimented by great performances by Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina.

A very passable look into two of the most influential artists to come out of Mexico. Hayek tackles Frida's character with zest and energy, although it seems difficult to figure out where she's taking it. Much like the storyline, although faithfully drawn from Frida and Diego's history, seems a little uncertain on how best to portray each moment. Are we looking directly at Frida or experiencing her through Diego and the others surrounding her? This is a little unsettling, but not unwatchable.

A neat-looking film with a good cast, but it's as if they boiled down everything that made Kahlo interesting to 'she had an accident, she made beautiful paintings, and she slept with a lot of famous and influential men.' I didn't care much.
