Freeheld

No chemistry, floppy script and Carrell's performance was exagerated.

The gap in mood between the quality drama of the lesbian partners fighting for their rights and Steve Carell making it a circus was simply too big to digest. Totally breaks with the reality of the film. While I enjoy Carell's humor, it didn't fit what Freeheld (2015) was all about.

Oh man, this broke my heart. Thank god, a story like this wouldn't happen this way today. I'm really glad society is making progress with this issue.

Good job, good effort especially by Shannon in such a cliché and small role. There is no chemistry between Moore and Page whatsoever in a film that is very dependent on it. It really curbs the overall performance of the movie which could be otherwise a pretty good one. I liked Ellen Page in her teen flicks, but I don't know how she would channel herself into playing more adult-type characters. It is a challenge for her still.

Good movie besides the lack of chemistry between Moore and Page.

Great acting (aside from a miscast Steve Carell) and a moving true story but it is written and directed in a way that hammers its big moments down your throat to make a point. The fact that an over-the-top Carell is a big part of the offending moments make it even harder to take. But it's still a really moving film just based on the strength of its story. I haven't seen the documentary of the same name, but I'm curious to check that out.
