Free Fall

Could've been better had it been longer, but it's still really cool.

Modern-day romance that questions "enlightened" societies' repeated affirmation of respecting equality and personal sexual preferences. It especially addresses homophobia of advanced countries like Germany where male-male bonding frequently happens in their big cities. My eyes were glued to the screen, not necessarily for the writing.

I found this film to be like a combination of Brokeback Mountain and Weekend, but it lacked the potency of either of these films. The film is well acted and the two leads both have great chemistry. However, I think that the lack of length really hindered the film, for we really don't get to see Marc's subtle transition into freedom until the last 15 minutes or so of the film. Otherwise, the movie is a standard plot centered around adultery rather than the far richer theme of self-exploration.
