I think this movie is simply misunderstood. Jon Lovitz comments in Heckler that his film The Benchwarmers was torn apart by critics but slayed 12 year old audiences, which is who it was made for. In that context, viewers just need to take into account the audience this movie was made for: people who are both blind and deaf.

Insane film that may be the last performance art piece bankrolled by a major studio. Insane happenings drench every frame with many misses, but I had to admire some of the gall in many of the gags...And admittedly laugh at many. As stated by Tom Green in his autobiography, it is partially a parody of all the gross-out comedies that came out during the time period. We can thank this film for the end of those awful films and that's worth something.

It's a tragedy that nothing this unique will likely ever come out of Hollywood again. Who knows what this movie is - outsider art, a grand prank, an emotional and personal journey for Tom Green - any of those is possible. I can't call this one of the worst films ever made because it demands too much respect to say that. Tom Green took Hollywood for a joy ride and crashed the car.

Tom Green is a bad actor, director, writer, and is not funny in any way, the closest thing to a redeeming quality in this film is Rip Torn who does not give his best, and I question if he suffers sleepless nights knowing his involvement. Who would let Tom Green make a movie?

A brilliant "f you" to the Hollywood comedy system full of bizarre anti-humor and non-sequitur humor that is hyperaware of its instance to piss off anyone wanting to critique it. It simply doesn't give a shit, and I have to admire its audacity in that. I can't blame you if you despise it but at the very least it should be noted as different than anything of its time, which has roots in the Adult Swim surreal-laden postmodernist humor that's celebrated today.

Horrifically bad even in the context of bad films. There was a very minute chance that Tom Green was actually an unorthodox comedy genius, this film not only ended such speculation immediately but also discredited his entire career and exposed him as an unfunny idiot with no idea what he was doing.

This pile of shit was so atrocious that if I could I would give it less than a zero. It was so bad that I would never want to personally associate with any other human being who actually enjoyed this movie. This was so bad that I swear I could smell a stench coming from our television as it played. "Freddy Got Fingered" is total, absolute and utter garbage with no redeeming value whatsoever.

You have to give Tom Green a certain amount of credit. He clearly set out to make the worst film possible, and he succeeded in creating something of a degree of terribleness usually only attainable by the talentless and/or pretentious setting out to make art. A painful and disgusting watch.

A masterpiece of absurdist art. It defies a conventional rating structure. However, what is even funnier than the film, is that a studio gave Tom Green $15 million to make this. I wanted to see this so badly in 2001. It's probably my most-anticipated film of all-time.

Time has been kind to this film, predating the visceral millenial humor (as seen in Adult Swim shows), which it clearly and purposefully presents here as an extremist parody of the raunchy comedies of its era (that it does not belong to). Some gags (backwards man) seem more innocuous than others (baby resuscitation scene), but this is indeed a carefully assembled sequencing of off-kilter jokes and a truly deranged story that's audacious in its impulsiveness. God bless America

Utterly perplexing creation that is almost impossible to assess in any conventional way, as it appears to achieve exactly what it wants to achieve, but what it achieves is so alien and bizarre that it becomes borderline unwatchable at several points. Torn should be congratulated for his utter commitment to Green's vision in his genuinely strange scenery chewing performance, and the movie itself is worthwhile for the curious.

I have yet to hear a valid argument why this movie is terrible. It's a weird fucking movie, okay, we got that cleared. But then the arguments run flat. The plot is coherent, carried out in a series of near-skits of Green and Torn going at it like the Three Stooges in much more grotesque circumstances. The movie combines some of the sickest gross-out humor with conventional feelgood comedy that makes for a hilarious combination that no matter how many times it repeats the formula is hilarious.

Was this supposed to be funny? Yeah, I guess some people would consider it amusing. Admittedly, I would have found Tom Green's juvenile antics hilarious when I was twelve, not just in their own right but for the look of utter shock in my parents' faces after recommending the movie to them. But that was ages ago, and now that I'm an adult, what am I supposed to think when I see some idiot rubbing a horse's cock? Add 90 minutes of inane humor to this crap and you get an unadulterated bomb.

When I don't like a film, I try to think of somebody that might have liked it. I can't think of anyone I know who would enjoy this, which I think makes me happy. If I'm being charitable, a "making of" feature might be funnier than the film itself (which, IMO, wouldn't be hard; I didn't laugh once) but I'd rather gouge out my eyeballs before getting anywhere close to this ever again. Fav moment: the sign at the airport that asked when the movie would be over.

Symbolic of comedy in this era, where it became less taboo to make shocking material like this and writers like Tom Green believed that shock value in of itself is a strong punchline. It's painfully unfunny and narratively idiotic, but for as bad it is it's strangely fascinating to me both as a relic of its time and just trying to comprehend what sort of people found this movie appealing. Though needless to say, the impressions those give are far from flattering.

Normally, a comedy with horrific acting, a meaningless plot, and braindead gags would earn an extremely low rating from me, but around the halfway mark, it occurred to me that Tom Green deliberately constructed this one as an anti-movie. The movie doesn't go for cheap, toilet-humor laughs but instead plumbs the depths for the most absurdly shocking scenes it can muster. Green's acting is intentionally detached and "wrong". If you take it for what it is - a bizarre deconstruction - it's funny.

Yes, Freddy Got Fingered is objectively one of the worst films I have ever seen. It is, at the same time, not a good-bad movie that is fun to riff on. However, there is a bizarre art to making something this terrible and I was fascinated and/or hypnotized the entire viewing. I honestly think it is worth watching just to see what Tom Green was allowed film and, simultaneously, try to decipher whether he thought this was funny or was intentionally trying to make some anti-art statement.

I would never call this a good movie, as it's far too amateurish and Green's schtick is irritating in high doses. However, there is a spark of divine madness in this film. It's like a social experiment in what pointless, demented, disgusting nonsense a studio is willing to finance in order to cash in on a trend, and this does have a fun sense of punk-rock freedom to it as Green sees what he can get away with. And while it isn't consistently hilarious there are some very, very funny moments.

Incongruous subject matter arranged into as familiar a form as possible. Like many films spun off from sketch comedy projects, it has plenty of energy but no sincerity or coherence, so the result is a parody of storytelling itself. Green performs with the obvious goal of repulsing the audience, but I actually found some of his inner-child antics sort of endearing in all their inappropriateness.
