Without resorting to hyperbole, this movie's titular fight is better than the one in AVP: Alien vs. Predator. That is the actual name of that movie. As though the abbreviation is necessary if they're only going to wait one colon to explain it. AVP(what the hell does that mean?): Alien vs. Predator(ohhhhhh). To AVP: Alien vs. Predator's credit though, Lionel Atwill is no Carsten Norgaard.

I'd like to see a Universal Monster's hangout movie, a la The Breakfast Club. Someone get on that.

Really good wolf man flick until someone along the way decided we needed a lame, undeveloped meeting of two monsters to muck it all up. Inserting a musical segment midway through is also pretty high on the hysterically odd scale.

This marked the first time two celebrity monsters shared the same marquee and screen. As initially scripted, the Monster is blind. That detail was omitted in the final cut, however, which leaves Bela looking like he's perpetually drunk and searching desperately for the nearest men's room! That and other flaws prevent the film from rising to classic status, but there's enough Universal back-lot charm, skilled thesping, and cheap thrills to keep it consistently entertaining.

Starts off with good intentions, but soon unravels into "what were they thinking?" territory as characters motivations become so counter intuitive even the actors don't buy it and so neither do we. But it's done with so much gusto they sell it anyways.

I will give this one some credit for its premise, this kind of crossover event must have been mindblowing at the time. Lon Chaney does a good job again as the wolf man, and seeing the initial meeting of the monsters does delight. However Bela Lugosi’s Frankenstein is broad and hammy and makes you appreciate what subtlety Karloff brought to the role. The final showdown is also a bit anticlimactic and results in a near comically sudden ending.

These movies had a certain charm even if they failed to match the original classics that spawned too many sequels. Am I closing in on having seen all of them? You betcha. For cinema!

I liked the overall look and music of this one, but the plot and dialogue was pretty weak. Still, fun to watch.

Great cinematography & prod design, but anyone waiting for the kind of monster thrills a title like this triggers will be extremely disappointed. Although Siodmak comes up w/ a relatively plausible motivation for Talbot seeking out the mad doctor (& offers a compelling death wish), there's not much story here & it shows. To his credit, there are some interesting supporting characters - esp Vazec whose mob-riling is actually justified - but it's not the monster extravaganza it promises.

Battle of the monsters! The Wolf Man meets Frankenstein (formerly known as Igor.... sort of). Universal using their assets to continue their horror line without having to create new creatures. The result is a mixed bag, but the finale was spectacular, making it worthy of being part of the Universal horror catalog. Bela Lugosi wasn't exactly at home in the Frankenstein Monster costume, so less said about his the better. Lon Chaney Jr. on the other hand... that was a tortured soul you could feel!

It isn't a Frankenstein movie if it doesn't end with a building getting destroyed...

With it's short runtime this feels woefully incomplete. So much more could be done with the setup. Even so, what's there is pretty entertaining, particularly the Wolfman plot. The Frankenstein plot makes less sense, but it brings us the myopic villagers and some light, if unoriginal, social commentary so I appreciate it too.

As with most monster movies, this suffers from too much dialog (terrible dialog at that) and not enough monsters. The scene described in the title doesn't actually happen until the last 5 minutes, so you might as well skip to the last scene to save yourself the time.
