Baron Victor Von Frankenstein (Boris Karloff) has fallen on hard times; he was tortured at the hands of the Nazis for not cooperating with them during World War II and he is now badly disfigured. As his family's wealth begins to run out, the Baron is forced to allow a TV crew shooting a documentary on his monster-making ancestors to film at his castle in Germany. However, the Baron has some ideas of his own... (imdb)

Rarely has a film started so promisingly and wasted that promise so completely. Seemingly clever for about 20 minutes, it toys with audience expectations about what's "real" & sets up an intriguing premise: a Frankenstein descendant who's up to no good is also in the middle of being filmed by a movie crew. It does nothing with this idea & instead, has the doctor spend most of his time boring us by pedantically telling us how he's bringing an inexcusably cheap- looking monster to life.

The ending is a nice tribute to the series' legacy, and the hooded monster is really unique and a little intense.

Starts off strong, with media satire ahead of its time, but once the killing starts, it descends into a completely standard monster movie. Karloff, of course, is wonderful as ever.

O castelo de Frankenstein estreava há 65 anos no Reino Unido. É legal como atualiza para era nuclear e o pós holocausto o mito de Frankenstein, mas a bem da verdade é só mais uma sequência caça niqueis. Box Versátil Frankenstein no Cinema.

If you skip this one, you're not missing much. Karloff is not the monster but the scientist in this Frankenstein film.

I can hear the polite applause every time Karloff finishes one of his monologues. Good looking with some nice homages, and I like the way it updates Frankenstein into a horrifying nuclear parable. However, I'm still not convinced that a dude wrapped in toilet paper could really scare anyone to death.

Karloff is given all the screen time in the world for his performance, and it's a juicy one. Jana Lund is a real looker too, and don't count out Charlotte Austin either. The rest may be ho hum, but this is a must see for Karloff enthusiast.
