Henenlotter puts the stupidest things on the screen and I savour every moment. Where else will you find hookers exploding from super crack. He had the pizzazz to write down on paper "SUPER CRACK MAKES THE HOOKERS EXPLODE AND BOOBS FLY EVERYWHERE" and make it happen.

My top movie watching moment for 2013 might've come early, because I'm not sure what can top an entire motel room full of hookers that explode after smoking supercrack. Campy fun.

I wish this had spawned a cinematic universe that went on to feature Hooker from the Black Lagoon, The Wolf Hooker, The Invisible Hooker, Prostitute of the Opera, and, of course, The Groom of Frankenhooker.

This rating reflects that my true nature is that of a degenerate idiot, but me liking this garbage movie can only be explained in terms of vibes since all other attempts to praise it are admittedly irrational. The old school NYC setting, the purple and green, the trashiness, the horrible effects, the goofiness, the bad acting, Zorro, Patty Mullen playing a totally hot frankenhooker; these are some good, campy Halloween vibes. TLDR: I am a child. I want weed, pizza, and soda.

Watching this movie is the last bit of fun you will have before waking up in the middle of the night and saying to yourself, "Fuck, I need a new girlfriend."

It seems like this is trying to hit the same tone as Re-Animator. It fails at that. But it does have a few funny moments, most of which are in the first half. Once the girl is created things just get too cheesy. Lorinz does a decent job in the main role, but I can't help but feel he's slightly miscast. An actor with a more sincere presence (someone closer in style to Jefferey Combs) would have been better. Still, this is probably as good as a film titled "Frankenhooker" could possibly be.

Total garbage, but so over the top ridiculous its entertaining. Zorro the pimp? The hookers exploding on super-crack? Good stuff. Also, the final scene is amazing!

Okay, this one is on me. The title alone kept me away from this film for a while. Not because I was offended, but because I thought this was going to be really cringey. If I would have known that "super crack" was prominently involved, I probably would have kept avoiding this. I should have had more faith in Henenlotter. This hums along and is so ridiculously goofy. It has charm. As sleazy as the film feels, somehow a scene involving our protagonist sizing up, like, eight sex workers is comical.

James Lorinz does his best Jeffrey Combs impression, and Patty Mullen gives an unironically brilliant performance. I'm kind of surprised how much of a budget this got, or how much it managed to stretch whatever budget it had into looking like a legitimate production and not some super low end grindhouse trash. In fact it's almost too slick, which makes it feel campy and self-aware instead of sleazy and gritty.

I wish this was better. It's a funny concept and it hits the tone mix of horror and humour quite well, but the lead actor is not good and the narrative arc is has too much glaring stupidity even for a tongue in cheek film. It's also a really stretched out film and while it doesn't really drag it does leave a very unsatisfied feeling at the end.

Not very funny, sexy, or scary and lacks the memorable gross factor of Basket Case but still weirdly enjoyable. Old New York looks kinda fun.

Its cheap and cheerful, but Henenlotter has three things to his advantage with this adaptation of Frankenstein with more prostitutes and super crack - 1) he has New York (before it was cleaned up) to draw from for atmosphere, 2) he has empathy for his characters despite their perversions, and 3) said perversions and anything bizarre is pushed to its limit, even if it involves latex, making it funnier and/or absurd. Because of this it is an enjoyable sleazy gem in schlock American genre films.

Here's the plot from what I remember. A man's fiancee is chopped up by a lawnmower, he keeps her brain but needs other body parts to bring her back to life, so he creates SUPERCRACK, and tricks some hookers into snorting it. The supercrack makes the hookers explode and he uses their body parts to bring back his girl, but UH OH! She takes on the customs of a hooker, oh dear! For this plot, I give this movie an 80.

I have mixed feelings about this. Some moments display clear brilliance, but many other segments are uninspired, drab filler. It could be argued that this is a feminist movie, but it can also be argued that it's merely male-gazey schlock. Overall, I'm left disappointed: there's so much more they could've done with the concept, but I still had a fun time with it.

On its face, a goofy and bizarre horror comedy typical of Frank Henenlotter, but at every step of the way it's challenging social norms, and might actually be the single most feminist movie ever. The whole movie is a commentary on the objectification of the female body, and the complete neglect of the female mind.

Frank Henenlotter has got to be the sleaziest sleazebag to ever sleaze around 42nd Street with a camera, and I love him for it. A mad scientist with a New Jersey accent is already hilarious by default, the fact that he quietly mutters "E = mc squared" while drawing up his master plans is the icing on the cake. So many great quotes in this movie. The fact that this was released in 1990 instead of the early 70s is baffling.

It's finally clear that say whatever you like about Henenlotter's style, most of his problems are features and not bugs, though the film is far more restrained than you might expect and suffers for it; outside of the legendary exploding hookers, and the hilarious lawnmower accident (followed up by the even funnier "news reports" about it), this is a fairly tepid affair, which takes too long introducing its title character, leaving a muttering Lorinz to half-heartedly carry most of the narrative.

The moment Frankenhooker herself goes loose is fun, but it takes too long to get to that. I loved the dumb faces Patty Mullen pulls. All other acting was painfully bad..

BlurayRip RARBG.

Though the premise is hilariously stupid & the potential for something really special is there because of it, this misses the mark in a surprising number of ways. Lorinz' off-kilter, one-note performance loses its charm by the 30 minute mark, & there's just way too much setup in the first half for way too little payoff in the second. It's way more boring than a movie called Frankenhooker should ever be, & that's its biggest downfall. It's still watchable & has fun moments, but it's just okay.

This is the Frankenstein adaptation I've been looking for, and it's even better than the book. The unashamed OTT cheesiness of its ridiculous story and unscary horror style doesn't dilute the intriguing and totally engaging fascination it has with men's fascination of the female body, making this sly exposé of chauvinism a secretly feminist film. This is trashy cinema of a high quality, even reading a synopsis of what goes on here is entertaining enough.

aw man i definatly overlooked this one for way too long. It surpassed my expectations by a long shot and was overly entertaining. The plot alone is hillarious, if you try and explain this movie to someone you cant help but laugh. Also love the effects, feels like the 80s even tho it was 1990. Loved the ending and of course crack smoking exploding hookers. And also the ending just topped it all off beautifully. Loved it.

On the surface, Frankenhooker is very much a guilty pleasure - shoestring budget, ridiculous premise, insane content. But despite its crass makeup und crude humor, the movie actually touches on some rather progressive themes. It doesn't delve deep, but for 1990, their mere representation was kind of ahead of its time. The movie also takes its meager budget and has fun with it, creating absurd scenarios that dazzle in all their schlocky glory. Better than one might think.

Generally a disapointment from the otherwise übersolid Henenlotter. It seems flawed in it's general message, but it does have a few nifty scenes. You can't completely hate a movie that includes a scene with exploding hookers.
