One of the greatest of black art pictures. The conjurer appears before the audience, with his head in its proper place. He then removes his head, and throwing it in the air, it appears on the table opposite another head, and both detached heads sing in unison. The conjurer then removes it a third time.(imdb)

Short and simple but entertaining. It's impressive how quickly people started experimenting and pushing the boundaries of film.

The really fun thing about seeing these old trick films is trying to put yourself in the position of an audience of the time and realizing how awesome and terrifying watching something like this would be if you have no idea how it would've been made.

How could you not love Georges Méliès? This short is great, you can see the showmanship & craft that Méliès naturally had shine through - it's doubtful many other early film-makers could have pulled this off & made it so charming.

It's hard to rate this, but I love seeing special effects in a film made before the turn of the century.

For 1898, mighty impressive "special effects". Entertaining bit of whimsy.

Pretty amazing seeing what could be done way back in 1898. Even out of context, it's still kind of a fun little short. Good stage presence, good special effects.

I'm not one to give extra points for being historic, but that was brilliantly amusing.

Quite short but Méliès' stage presence is still effective and exciting today - the man was truly a talented performer.
