Oingo Boingo the Movie. That's right. From when they were still The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, no less. Danny Elfman is Satan in the movie that only his brother could direct. If you HAVE seen The Forbidden Zone, then I don't need to tell you how wild this film is. Like watching a Troma, John Waters, and Max Fleischer cartoon put into a blender and set on puree. Strangely enjoyable and uniquely fun can also accurately describe this lovely train wreck.

An cult classic on paper but the end result is just lame and excruciating, cool imagery ruined by painfully try-hard performances (with the exception of Susan Tyrell, baby I still love your crazy ass) all SHRIEKING at the camera for attention "I'M WEIRD! I'M WEIRD! LOVE ME! GIVE ME MIDNITE SCREENINGS!". Totally missing the unpretentious fun and bisexual subversity of Rocky Horror (which it so desperately tries to be). The music sucks too.

Sometimes you forget that it's our beloved, normal star of Stepmom, Susan Sarandon, running around and cavorting with all the weirdness of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Now, as for Susan Tyrrell? This might not break her top five of unhinged performances.

Unwatchable nonsense over the top musical, and that's coming from someone who usually enjoys movies like this. Vulgarity annoyed me the most; I don't see how all the racism, antisemitism and misogyny in this film goes beyond being just that - poor taste.

What can I say? It's short, zany and has a unique tone. This is worth watching for Danny Elfman's music alone, although the movie itself can be a little grating at times. It's not a masterpiece by any stretch but I enjoyed it.

Easily one of the weirdest films I've ever watched. Wall-to-wall bizarre irreverent schlock, ill-conceived and aptly executed, with wacky art direction and grating non-performances abound. Danny Elfman's score is the only thing keeping this film watchable, but still it's a punishing viewing. Feels like a 75-minute Adult Swim sketch, so I guess by that standard it's ahead of its time.

BlurayRip RARBG

It's trying for something, and it does craft a cohesive tone. It's just that the tone it manages is pretty damn grating and while the comedy is consistent it's mostly consistently unfunny and the whole thing is just going in circles. This isn't for me.

I hate musicals but I so love this movie. Great acid comedy with great music and beautiful surreal scenes shot originally on black and white, super b-sidey

If you like absurd, dirty, twisted humor, check this movie out immediately. Not only is it bizarre but it's very clever and funny with great music provided by Danny Elfman.

This film strives for the knowing camp of Barbarella or the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but where those made the viewer feel in on the joke, this one just makes the viewer feel abject hatred for everything in it. At least half the "jokes" involve either rape or racial caricatures. I don't mean to say that lack of political correctness makes this a bad film. Political incorrectness makes for great humor; not when it annoys and annoys. I don't think I've ever seen a movie this annoying in my life.

I think my favourite scene was Gramps repeatedly bludgeoning that thing's head in, or the classroom singing through the alphabet, or the Spanish number featuring those boxers and ESPECIALLY the trippy mouseketeer-hat dude who joins them. Decisions! Marie Pascale Elfman is a sight to behold in this - worth the price of admission alone.
