It's quite an effective film, compared to your average independent British drama. The storytelling is a strength, along with believable lead performances from McCrory and Oudghiri. The romantic/passionate moments are beautifully evoked in shallow focus, and suspense is built up slowly, without becoming silly. If there's one flaw it's that these laconic characters and empty streets can begin to try one's patience, suggesting that falling for this film isn't going to lead to eternal true love.
