A B-level musical plot with a A-list cast. Considering who was behind this movie the end result was disappointing. Frank Borzage who is such a great romance manipulator just doesn't get it to work in this military musical. And the story is so lackluster. All about Dick Powell wanting to become a officer because of Ruby Keeler. No war in sight, so instead the excitement is a stage show they're putting on. Yeah, "exciting". A mild romance story with a light comedy and a few musical numbers.
