Probably one of the worse animes ive seen. The story is all over the place and incohisive. The only good ideas is the amazing poetic narration and a great soundtrack. Aside from that then its below mediocre

I think this could've been a very nice mood piece, if the hokey storylines didn't stand out so much. The animation is pleasant but unremarkable, something that can be said about much of this movie. However, all three stories are very simple – not exactly pleasantly simple, more Hollywood-for-dummies simple. I was definitely interested its themes of memory and nostalgia, but I ultimately found Flavors of Youth a rather superficial depiction.

This is a nice, slow paced anime film. The stories are all intriguing in their own way. Its a bit of escapism and is somewhat thoughtful. Nice stories about family and love mainly. An enjoyable anime.

Interesting story-telling method. First two stories were lackluster, and the final one just fell short of a great mini-story.

The first story is an interesting perspective piece exploring how a community subtlety influences people without being directly involved, although it doesn't have much cartharsis. The 2end story is wholesome but doesn't hold much thematic weight. The 3rd story is aping Shinkai but somehow being far more pretentious and obnoxious about its conceit. Overall a pretty okay collection of stories that I'm not sure would have held much on its own if any of them were extended individually.

Three stories 80/100 for #1 35/100 for #2 65/100 for #3 plus an extra 5 points for the after-credit scene.

First story was decent but that third story slapped. The shots of the two of them listening to to their tapes while their relationship falls apart was great.

Certainly on the sentimental side, but great if you're in the mood for that.

Haoling Li brings a uniquely multicultural voice to his snapshot of the crossroads of an Asia reckoning with modernization, placing timeless character stories into a distinctive and endlessly fascinating era.
