Finally tracked down the edited feature length version of the original Flash Gordon (1936) serial. Felt more like a highlight reel of the 13 episode cinema series and even more confusing. As expected it's best to stick to the serial. The Flash Gordon serials where among the most fun serials made so it's not a bad thing to invest ones time on those.
