Flamenco, Flamenco

As someone who works with some of the best opera singers in the world, I find the flamenco style of singing literally painful to listen to. Still, there are some powerful sequences here, most involving dance, and I appreciated the emphasis on historical forms. It heats up toward the end--the Canción de Cuna sequence is extraordinarily beautiful, Zapateado is fabulous, and then we get Paco de Lucía. Saura is a true master.

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of flamenco music but this was pleasant.
