Five and Ten

The acting and directing could use some work but even with that the really good writing shines through and Marion Davies is charming as always. I was also impressed by the smooth transition from comedy to social critique and a very good ending.

Family drama about what happens when wealth distracts one from whats important. The romance between Marion Davies & Leslie Howard is what carries this. Very mature romance with the dilemma of another woman being in the way of their union. They avoid the worst cliché in their bonding and it kinda takes a life of it's own. Wish they'd given their portion of the story more screen time because Howard with his approach to emotions and Davies' nice little rich bitch personality hit some kind of spark.
