The narration is too pampering and excessively controls the otherwise excellent story revolving around original footage and the personalities.

Brilliant subjects, brilliant footage. The hipster veneer was a bit distracting and ultimately I wanted less narration and more words from the Kraffts.

Powerful, moody, almost ethereal documentary utilises a vast archive of stunning footage, but what the film captures so well is the visceral grip the obsession has on the Krafft’s; July’s narration seems to be controversial, but she gives the film a dreamy, almost other-worldly feeling that makes our heroes’ sometimes erratic, even nutty behaviour far easier to swallow (the notion of riding lava like the rapids is just one jaw-dropping moment).

Once-in-a-lifetime footage filmed and set against some fascinating protagonists formed in the truist Herzogian mold, their platitudes both at-once disassociation madlibs poetry and divine authorization: “Curiosity is stronger than fear.” The narration feels like a temp track to a much stronger piece, which should in no way diminish the rest of the brilliant editing and work self-evident.

Finishes making its point in the first 40 minutes, but worth watching for the truly breathtaking footage. A Herculean feat of editing.

Absolutely *mesmerizing* footage, but Sara Dosa also captures something beautiful, mysterious, and haunting here in how she paints a vivid, yet inevitably incomplete, portrait of these fascinating individuals. It feels almost mythic.

Great photography, and there's obviously a lot of love put into it. Still I can't help but feel that a story like this needs at least a little bit of a Herzog projecting something onto its enigmatic subjects.

The footage is stunning. You can't mess a movie up when that's your source. The narration and added elements were hit or miss for me.

“Fire of Love” is a documentary that showcases an incredible love story between two pioneering scientists, as well as their groundbreaking archival footage of volcanoes. The film’s unique blend of striking scientific documentation and sweeping romance, along with Miranda July’s narration, makes for an engaging viewing experience. Despite its occasional slow moments, the stunning visuals and poignant love story make this documentary a must-watch for fans of the genre.

July's narration is great. The footage is great. But the filmmaker could have explored so much more. She is not using this great footage in the best way possible.

My third grade self wanted to watch this for all the lava, but my current self left it truly moved by one of the greatest love triangles of all time: man, woman, and volcano.

A competent, conventional documentary about an unconventional couple.

The story intrigued me. I liked the footage of the couple in and around volcanoes, talking about their passion for volcanology on TV and so on. The musics a bit indie/arty - the whole film is somewhat pretentious in tone but its an intriguing watch regardless. Sad but intriguing. It's certainly quirky and a bit 'out there' but somewhat thought provoking and interesting never the less. The narration from/by Miranda July is a little unfortunate - very dour and robotic sounding, which seems a shame

Like a Wes Anderson documentary but with better characters and worse narrator. Also, if these guys had an Instagram, it would be lit!

A very interesting story and presentation with some terrific, vibrant, and occasionally frightening visuals. Would be elevated by a better narrator and soundtrack.

No arguing with the footage, but the whispery, affected narration irritated me so much, that I almost turned it off.

1 volkanolog çiftin hikayesi. Katia ve Maurice Krafft gittiği volkanik dağlardan çektiği muhteşem lav görüntülerini izliyoruz. Ateşin korkunç yüzünü resmederken, doğaüstü güzelliğiyle de mest ediyor. Çiftin aşk ateşi öyküsü de ilgi çekici. Filmin sonunda, Unzen dağı. İnsan bildiğine aşık olur. Bilmediğine deli divane. Aşkın Ateşi.

It occasionally runs a little dry due to the emotional detachment of the film's narrator, but the heart and soul of the film always draws you in - the love that the Kraffts share for each other, their eternal devotion to revealing the mysteries and dangers of volcanic eruptions for the world to see, and the hauntingly beautiful and unprecedented volcano footage that they captured themselves, which makes up the bulk of the film's photography.
