Finis terrae

A sophisticated use of visual language, especially for its time, Epstein's lauded 'impressionist' style was difficult to pin down, occupying nebulous ground between documentary 'realism' and formal abstraction that pushed against the limits of the medium. However, it is easier to admire than love. Might need a rewatch to truly determine its value.

One of the most dramatically intense silent films I've seen. Also, visually breathtaking!

Great montage and cinematography elevates this humble film, which might be called an early example of poetic realism.

Slow and not fully engaging but oh is it beautiful.

I don't mind if it's a silent movie, but this one is quite boring.
