A fascinating story in which Terrance Howard has a bomb strapped to his throat that will explode if he ever speaks above a whisper. Spoiler Alert: He lives.

Channing Tatum mumbles and then takes off his shirt. Repeat for ~90 minutes.

At the start I thought this was a comedy. Instead it was a really dull movie about some guy who fights other guys and likes a girl.

A movie that wants more than anything to be Rocky, right down to the wonky guitar riffs, work out sequences and gritty urban squalor. But Channing Tatum doesn't have the emotional range to pull off a character of nuance or the ugliness to pull off a convincing tough guy. Most of the time is spent muddling about the characters' incoherent attempts to interact with each other in charmless relationships.

A 100-minute mumble-fest; there are very few clean, audible lines in the entire flick, and where, with "Rocky", that's lovable, here it's just annoying. Didn't find myself attached to ANY characters, wasn't convinced by their inter-relationships, and most of the fighting had no technique, devolving into glorified bar-fights (save the fight with Cung Le, but he's an actual MMA guy, so that makes sense). In short, too much of this flick felt phoned in, and it failed to entertain me on any level.

The script is mostly predictable but the movie is still enjoyable. Channing Tatum does a good job in the lead role. There are some interesting fight scenes. Overall I would recommend this movie.

Tries, and somewhat misunderstood, but the low-key, downbeat atmosphere clearly striven for by the filmmakers is at odds with the generic narrative, resulting in a movie that is lacklustre in terms of action and not interesting enough as an exploration of an urban milieu. The major compensation is the excellent and unusual performance by Terrence Howard. Strangely (but perhaps deliberately) disjointed, and frequently reminiscent of better films, but does conjure some interest. Tatum looks good.

This film lacks everything. From believable characters, over a solid story, even up to decent fighting scenes.

Apart from a few very short fight scenes, there's little to mention, little to watch for, and even less to root for. By deciding to stay away from the classic underdog story that absolutely begs to be used in these types of circumstances, Fighting fails to make any emotional connection with an audience. It has bland characters played by uninterested actors, and since it's far more interested in attempting to be a character study, it fails by not delivering anything that is worth watching.

Too bad the boxing blueprint doesn't provide Montiel the profound insight of Walter Hill's Hard Times and Undisputed which perfectly combined class, ethnicity and existentialism into the two best boxing movies ever made.

Howard was the only good thing about this film. For a movie that seemed to have all the elements of a decent action film, nothing really worked.

Dull, lifeless, and even retarded. The way people kept randomly meeting up on the streets of Manhattan was just laughable.

Not as bad as one might expect. Tatum was rubbish but there were some interesting characters (Howard was good). Rumble film that is at least better than the dribble that is 'Never Back Down'.

This was an awful movie. There's really not much to say here. Never Back Down was better and Never Back Down was crap (though I enjoyed it... it's my boy... we all have those movies). Poor acting, poor chemistry between those actors and just a plot that didn't gel together very well makes it crap. Oh, and its attempt to be gritty. No, it's not gritty, it's a dude who can't act and seems to borrow mannerisms from Eminem, who gets in fights and emotes in a bad way. Skiiiiip.

A pleasant surprise. Terrance Howard keeps the film afloat, and the film surprisingly relies more on plot than action. It wasn't as bad as I would have sworn it would be after seeing the initial trailer.
