I wish I didn't hate Jimmy Fallon so much because maybe then I would have enjoyed this movie more. As a casual baseball fan there were some funny baseball scenes that my date and I found some truth in. I found it funny when the guy offered his wife for Fallon's season tickets. About halfway thru I started to want to just take the movie out and go watch a documentary on the 2004 RedSox season.

A horrible remake of a great british film and book. Go Yankees.

Fallon just isn't the type of actor that can carry something like this. Barrymore is her usual delightful self. Where's the Boston accents. Where's the Yankees suck shirts. I know this was just after/during the cleaning up of Fenway(and this flick played a part in that)butshow us at least one dude screaming epithets at Sheffield or Matsui. Also how they met right after the 03 season and there's no way a die hard fan would be able to act like he acts after losing the way the Sox did.

I am indifferent towards the Farrellies. I dislike Barrymore. I find baseball to be the most boring sport in the world, and most of the time, can't stand Fallon. You'd think I wouldn't even see this movie, let alone like it. But like it I did. Because it's not about baseball, and it's not about the Red Sox. It's about what it means to commit yourself to something, be it a sport or a relationship, and the compromises required to make it all work. That, I can relate to, besides the cheesy ending.

Arghhh....I hate baseball but my mom made me watch this when I was in a weakened state. Nothing especially awful about it, some funny moments, but just a mushy junky generic romcom, and I found the premise essentially repugnant.

Sweet-natured rom-com is an unusually sincere and "serious" effort from the Farrellys, telling a straightforward tale of competing romantic passions (ie. the love triangle between Barrymore, Fallon and the Red Sox). Some big laughs initially mellow into a more sedate, conventional romantic story, with the winning performances (and chemistry) between Fallon and Barrymore concealing mild padding in the mid-section. Sikking and Williams are great fun (albeit too briefly) as Barrymore's parents.

It's a bit shallow and skims through most of their relationship but Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon are cute together in this.

Both Barrymore and Fallon are likeable in their roles (although I do feel that Fallon is trying a bit too hard to be Mike Myers in this). However as a whole, the films is sickly sweet, mostly innocuous (i.e. inert) and hence not good.

It's kind of cute but doesn't depict the psychotic fan of a perennial losing team that well. I am one of those fans and I don't see myself in any of these people. One day they will make a Fever Pitch about the Canucks/Mariners/Pacers :)

Eh. It was a really pretty poor. Fallon and Barrymore were fun at least, but the movie ended up being nothing more than a mediocre love story surrounding a mediocre team. Solidified by really poor writing, and some inability to keep a laugh. Really not worth to much time.

I would file this movie under a guilty pleasure. Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore have good chemistry together in the movie. The movie also has an interesting look at the fanatical sports fan. There are a couple of romantic film cliches but overall I would recommend this movie.

Fever Pitch is a formulaic boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-wins-girl-back romantic comedy. Still, Ben is a real gentleman, and it feels perfectly natural that Lindsey falls for his goofy authenticity. And considering the fact that the Farrelly brothers are at its helm, the movie is short on crude gross-out humor. (pluggedin.com)

I hate Red Sox Nation, actually all obnoxious Boston sports fans - collectively, they are easily the worst I've ever met. Right down to the accent. They are self loathing yet incredibly prickly about their beloved teams. Packaged in the form of a romantic comedy, Drew Barrymore is the "straight woman" that has to endure her boyfriend's Red Sox fanaticism. This movie captures that well and in a light that is much funnier and endearing than in real life..

Fever Pitch is a good romantic comedy. How many times can you utter those words without a hint of irony or sarcasm? Maybe one in every ten? Twenty? By mixing sports with love, it creates a funny and touching movie. It places two very real character into a relationship and lets them work it all out for themselves. It feels genuine, it never lingers, it's harmless, and I had a good time with it. It's an unnecessary remake, but it's a good film and I'm perfectly okay with it existing.

It doesn't really adapt the novel, but just Hornby's obsession about the game. So, many things get lost in this translation. And the whole film doesn't really look like Farrelly's well-known material: this is merely a crowd-pleaser sports romcom with bad acting by Drew and Jimmy. And that's it.

While its a bad movie, the sport management degrees in me want to scream about how this movie is basically a romantic comedy derived from one of my text books. From this perspective, its okey, still this movie aint so hot.

This gets a decent score *only* because it's based on a story by Nick Hornby, who can actually write (High Fidelity is high on my list.) Other than that, the Farrelly Bros. are a disgrace to the whole film industry... :\

Oh No! She's in love with a Red Sox fan! How will this relationship ever work if the guy loves baseball. Stupid idea for a movie, and not even done well. I just wanted to hit Fallon in the face the entire movie for being more pumped on baseball than getting down with Drew Barrymore. ugh

Good thing in this movie is that it shows how difficult it could be to be a big fan and trying to keep a good relationship. Otherwise everything in the movie was not good. The story itself was booring. BTW, Russians have been played Lapta, a baseball type of game since 1300. Baseball is based on British and Irish ball-and-base games and for example cricket is pretty close to Lapta.

It's obviously a very loose adaptation but it did a reasonable job of capturing the spirit of the book. The relationship between the fan and the team was more interesting then the love story, unfortunately they focused too much on that story.

Far from great, but a decent romantic comedy, that did all it was intended to do. It captured my attention for two hours while it was on TV and provided decent background noise when I was working on other things. It's a good film to put on and ignore, as the plot is easy enough to follow even if you're not trying.

The original is way better and really didn't need to be remade. Did we really need the movie to be about baseball in America rather than soccer in Britain to appreciate the story?
