A popular topic in Belgian World War 1 movies is the story of Belgian heroine/spy Gabrielle Petit. I've already seen La libre Belgique (1921) and I probable prefer that one even if a lot of the stagings might be better here. It's just that they try too hard to make a martyr of Petit in Femme belge Gabrielle Petit (1928) shoving down our throat a bit too much of that Belgian patriotism.
