A kind of variation on BELLE DE JOUR, about a woman who is repressed as a result of her mother's Christianity, haunted (it seems) by the ghost of Stalin, and frustrated by a husband who cares too much about his work. But what do we learn? That women have desire, and that the important thing is to be together? So it seems, but these hardly count as revelations, and the whole thing suffers from Szulkin's heavy hand with symbolism and general lack of subtlety. Classical hits only slightly help.
