Shocking how little people talk about this movie given the cast involved. So good! Walhberg, Witherspoon and Milano all looking hot. amy brenneman playing a step mom all Milf’d up. Full of these just insane dolly zooms and close ups while the sound gets blown out. The ending sequences even if you know how these movies play out is still very stressful. Lots of weird psychosexual stuff between a father and daughter and her virginity. Long live the wooden coaster at the PNE

Sure Witherspoon is attracted to Marky Mark, but who thought there was nothing wrong with Alyssa Milano going for a 40 year old fat guy who always looks sweaty.

I stole someone else's invite to the Melbourne launch of FEAR at the Hard Rock Cafe and got very drunk on free booze while using a different name and job to introduce myself to everyone I met, including a young Reese Witherspoon. I asked her what she thought of the truly awful, properly patriarchal gender politics of the movie. She said at this point in her career she felt she had to take any role this big, but yes the way the family is violently reunified against the threatening boy was bad.

If you watched this film to see what it was like being a teenager in 1996, you'd think everyone played pool, listened to Bush, and loved sweaters tucked into jeans. This character is the what I imagine to be the most like actual Mark Wahlberg, even down to violently attacking people with no real cause.

I suspected this was Mark’s first movie he acted in
It turned out I was wrong
But it was his first starring role and all I can is
Wow he gave a fantastic performance
I like the slow build up they did with the David character
Moody intense and scary
Not a horror movie by any means but I think it borrows some horror elements
Nice intense drama

The movie comes to a screeching halt after the climax which makes it feel less satisfying because I didn't get to process anything that happened in the finale. Great cast and soundtrack. The lil bro had balls of steel!! I'd be more interested in seeing how the events of the movie affected _him_ later in life.

Maybe it's because I don't normally like movies like this that I think it's so much better than... anyone else seems to. Most suspense/thrillers are such crap that I'm constantly rolling my eyes, but this had me. Good writing, with believable--if a tad shallow--characters. Wahlberg is somehow completely convincing as a sadistic psychopath--I wonder why? Reese Witherspoon is good, and William Petersen is hot as her pissed off dad.

it's got a lot of terrible ratings on here, but I'm a sucker for thrillers and this one isn't all that bad, is it? It's a cliche genre movie and it doesn't have nearly enough balls for my taste (its all in the story, the execution could have been grittier) but it has pretty good performances and I'm a fan of the genre. The whole finale is a worse version of the Straw Dogs ending, but if you're going to copy, copy from the best. I just wish this movie had the balls of straw dogs or cape fear.

Incredibly stupid, conservative and anti-sex but there's a lot of "90s erotic teen thriller" fun to be had if you shut your brain off and enjoy all the trashy melodrama and 90s aesthetics (even though the cheap thrills of Marky Mark shirtless at his peak and Reese Witherspoon's short skirts can't hide the abysmal script). The infamous rollercoaster fingerbang scene however is genuinely amazing and perfect in every way (hence a higher score here then it actually deserves).

Gets an extra point because Marky Mark finger-bangs a girl on a rollercoaster. If I were writing a script, I would totally put in a line that says, "this is where Marky Mark finger-bangs a girl on a rollercoaster." In fact, that would be the first line I'd write and I'd basically build my entire film around it.

I mean it's not the worst movie ever made. I truthfully miss this type of 90s, straight forward thriller where a psycho enters the lives of a normal person (see: Single White Female, Fatal Attraction, The Temp). Mark Wahlberg still has his Boston accent in this movie, and I love that. Reese is always easy to watch, and Alyssa Milano is actually impressive, especially when she screams to Reese, "You're my only friend!"

Trashy TVM gussied up with fine production values, but it works, thanks to Foley’s hard lean-in to the silliness of the material, matched by uniformly well judged performances, turning this into a fun riff on CAPE FEAR; Wahlberg is a terrifically malevolent force, and generates considerable friction with Petersen. Denouement may be predictable, but the multi-directional threats, combined with Foley’s pumping foot on the gas, makes it viscerally gripping and even genuinely unsettling.

Marky Mark is pretty much a blast as psycho stalker boyfriend, but the rest of the film around him struggles to measure up. Directing and editing lags to keep the energy at a pace with the characters; final home invasion bit kinda so so. Should have leaned harder into trashy erotic thriller stuff like Basic Instinct, let the titties fly.

Mark Wahlberg stars in one of his first features as a hoodlum drug dealer from the wrong side of the trackswho falls in love with Nicole Walker, an upper-middle-class high school girl (Reese Witherspoon). In this psycho-drama (with the emphasis on psycho), Nicole happily loses her virginity to her first love, but, when she begins to doubt the relationship, his tenderness turns to violence, as he stalks and terrorizes her and her friends and family. The girl's father never trusted him in the firs

Fear is a film that ends up wearing out its welcome way before it ends, but still leaves you wanting some questions answered. It's too long, but you want more. Maybe scenes that should have been included were edited out, and ones that are redundant were included, I'm not sure. What I do know is that this isn't a thriller that completely satisfies, even if it has a strong cast and a good enough premise.

It was a good setup, but had a drastic change for the ending. The film over all was good, but do you realize how many films would not be feasible if only people owned a gun like they should?
