What's interesting? 1st, it's unusual because a film like this would never get made today because Woke/DEI types would want it banned, insisting it causes "harm" even though it offers up the same BS "you have to be happy w/ yourself the way you are" by the end (even if it kills you apparently). 2nd, it's sweetly old-fashioned even for 1980: not only are ethnic cultures discussed more honestly; religion is actually important to the leads. Unfortunately I think the comedy would only work for kids.

The finest movie ever devoted to comedy and food. Where they rip apart the kitchen is one of the finest scenes in any movie.
