Father of the Bride

Obviously it was never going to touch the Steve Martin movie, but I thought the movie was okay enough. Nothing special, but passable enough to enjoy it for what it is. Not something I would bother watching again though.

“Father of the Bride” is a heartwarming and well-executed remake of a classic story. While it may not be as humorous as the 1991 film, it contains more heart and adds more depth to the story. The incorporation of Cuban-American culture is a refreshing twist, and the performances by the cast, especially García and Estefan, are solid.

Unapologetically made first and foremost for latinos, and there were times when I knew I didn't understand references and jokes and probably even more times when I didn't even realize it. Even so, this movie was a pleasant experience and more about family than romance.
