Fast Talking

Unlike plenty of other coming-of-age stories, the main 15 year old here is endearing because he is certainly a rule-breaking rapscallion, but still has a limit in his morals (selling powdered chalk as heroin). The pacing has a bit of a stop-start feel, and I suppose most scenes involve him and his friends running away from trouble. But it's a likeable film with a real sense of its time and place without having to heap it in, ending on a positive note that hits a specific kind of inspiration.
