Better than the first movie with the presence of silver surfer (visually at least). Carefully dodging any serious plot possibility, stays on the safe water. Old school "save the world" superhero movie with new age special fx. Power shifting scenes are especially entertaining. For those waiting for Galactus will listen to a shallow sub story and have to eat shades and a dark cloud.

I'm gonna say I like this a little bit more than the first. The Silver Surfer himself is presented much better than the first villain, Dr. Doom. Still, his motives kind of contradict himself and he isn't fleshed out the best. The cast/performances aren't substantially better than the first, the cornball writing is still very present and due to all of this, This version of the superheroes are not on par with what fans expect, and thankfully, this series was essentially killed.

I'd like to think this was made for young kids, but Pixar films are a heck of a lot better than this. There are some ok action sequences but there are multiple problems here: neither the CGI nor the makeup are capable of making stretching powers or the Thing look "real"; Doom's miscast & needs a voiceover; & Sue's complaints make her seem selfish. What kills this though is the writing. There are plotholes (why's Surfer making craters?) & little feels at stake w/ all the groan-worthy jokes.

This sequel has better action and the humour doesn't suck as bad, but once finished you'll realise the entire plot is a sham. The Silver Surfer endangers the planet, then saves the planet all by himself. Not only that, but his motivations and ability to avoid the situation were already in place before arriving. At least he looks cool while he's here. Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four are suitably attired for what amounts to a cheerleading role.

Enjoyable sequel is a bright and cheery entertainment, tightly and efficiently made (coming in at under 90 minutes) and served competently by its cast. Some clunky one-liners, and an ugly and illogical characterisation of Alba's character and mind-set in the early stages, are minor missteps for this otherwise benign and zippy piece of entertainment.

Pretty much the same as the first one, but shakes it up a bit by, instead of Sue and Reed's teenage romance drama, turning Sue into a total bimbo who only worries about the wedding and what the media thinks of her clothes. Thus, the sum of badness remains almost constant, with only a small increase.

What a mess. I've no experience of the comic books, so no idea what was going on here. A family of wisecracking superheroes squabble a lot like a bad soap opera, then unite to go up against a naked T-1000 with no penis on a magic intergalactic surfboard. But he's not the real bad guy, he only destroys planets because his overlord forced him to destroy them in order for the overlord to destroy them and oh god I don't know what's happening here.

Miles better than the original, but so is sticking your finger in a pencil sharpener. It fixes a lot of the first one's superficial problems (the plot has stakes, the effects are good, it's fun, etc.), but can't overcome its awful characterizations. As a character, Doom is beyond redemption, he's been flubbed. The Surfer is awesome, but he's just trotted out to look cool on command -- there's no character depth. Maybe it's for the best though. By doing nothing, they couldn't possibly fuck it up.

Absolutely odious. Beyond the juvenile script, abhorrent acting, cheap FX (The Thing's hands look like something you buy at a paper goods store for Halloween), you had an utterly confused moral and ethical message and, to top it all off, gratuitous shots at the United States military. One of the worst things I've ever seen, and hopefully a career-ender for the people that brought it to the screen.

It's one thing for a movie script to be cliche. It's another for it to be assembled out of cliches, stuck together like Lego blocks, with no concern even for the usual emotional cause-and-effect that makes these cliches reasonably dependable in the first place. There's just nothing in particular *here*, not even a sense of what kind of movie they wanted to make.

Ignore the naysayers as this is quite a tight well made movie. The story may be somewhat simple, but it is well done. The cinematography and effects/CG are great as in most Marvel flicks. Enjoyable, occasionally thrilling and with great FX, although rather redundant as far as the characters and themes go. In other words, it doesn't have much to add to the first film but remains a pleasant watch. And one more thing: it's not that I have a problem with overblown subplots, but, with crucial scenes taking place in England and Germany, where the fuck are the respective armies and governments? Why is it all up to the US Army and the FF? And they couldn't even get an evacuation right...

Witless, joyless, and completely mediocre in just about every way, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" is a mess, sure, but it's a dull mess, a movie so lacking in substance or purpose that I struggle to even muster up any semblance of disdain for it. The first was silly, yes, but it had heart, a sitcom-esque upheaval of the superhero genre that worked wonders when working with the little things. This? This is the reality TV equivalent of that same idea. What a dissapointment.

This 'Fantastic Four' sequel chronicles the Marvel Comics team - Mr. Fantastic (who's stretchy), The Thing (who's strong), the Human Torch (obvious) and Invisible Woman (who's Jessica Alba) - as they face a new enemy, the Silver Surfer. The Silver dude is sent from outta space by Galactus. The fable of the Silver Surfer goes that, after a bit of time here, he finds humanity something worth saving. Because of the betrayal, Galactus dooms him to spend the rest of his life on Earth. S

Rick Kirby, Stan Lee, the Silver Surfer was created, when humans still used to think big, beyond the "iphone", beyond flying cars, beyond Jupiter, beyond the stars, the Silver Surfer as a visual icon, is on a level with Hal, the Giger-Alien, and Avatar, one day a future director, no doubt, in less "limited" times, will take up the surfer imagery of this movie and create it into a sparkling metaphor of human future and destiny.

Like the first one it's much more enjoyable than its reputation suggest. It's nice light entertainment, that wraps up its plot in about 90 minutes. Especially the quarreling between The Thing and Human Torch is fun. Could have used a bit more action. Especially the fact that the initial antagonist SIlver Surfer beats the real big bad and not the protagonist themselves makes it a bit less than the first. (2nd viewing)

I would really like to give this movie a lower score just based on the stupid commercial line about the FF mobile being a Dodge Hemi. I love Silver Surfer. I really thought he was one of the coolest superheroes when I was a kid and I never even read any of his comics. I thought his storyline, while brief, was a nice addition to this movie. Even though it's a marginal improvement over its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer suffers from many of the same problems. The characters still have no depth, the plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and the action scenes aren't all that impressive. At least there's more than one action scene this time around, and since the characters aren't spending most of the time trying to get rid of their powers, this is a better film. It's nowhere near worth watching.

Same idea than the first one of course, no news about it. Entertaining, simple, cheap (effects look cheaper than the first one), flat, but somehow it made me feel like the child that watched the TV-shows, though I would prefer it to be like the comic. So conclusion, I think this saga is not good, but I find it children oriented and that way, it's not that bad, and may even make some adults feel like children again. By the way, smart move not showing Galactus, they sure would have done it bad.
