It's interesting to see a drama that still believes that the argument between quality products vs. profits in the corporate world is still unresolved. It's a pretty thoughtful drama with a bunch of great performances and only a few moments that cross the gap into bad melodrama. Holden fares the best with a climactic monologue that he delivers the hell out of. Stanwyck is uncharacteristically underwhelming, mostly because her part is not good.

All the machinations to fill the chair after the president of a company dies are rather fun, and hold your interest until the final boardroom scene. There, it gets idealistic and more than tad moralizing, and... *yawn!* Good ensemble cast, but...how is it that June Allyson gets second billing (and what's with that speech impediment of hers?), above Barbara Stanwyck? Granted, she has almost nothing to do, and we wait the whole movie for her to be, you know, Barbara Stanwyck, and it never happens.

Interesting premise that I don't think quite lives up to the awesome potential it could have had, but I still thought this was a good film. The cast is good, and even though you can pretty much tell how the film will end the ending is still quite absorbing. A nice surprise.

Unconvincing. I don't really see people talking this way under these circumstances, so none of it really grabbed me.

This film about corporate wheeling and dealing in the gray flannel era is more interesting than you might think. A lot of good performances here.
