Suspense/Thriller

Eight candidates have reached the final stage of selection to join a mysterious corporation. Entering a windowless room, an Invigilator gives them 80 minutes to answer 1 simple question. He outlines 3 rules they must obey or be disqualified: don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door, don't spoil their papers and don't leave the room. He starts the clock and leaves. The candidates turn over their question papers, only to find they're completely blank.

Starts out very strong but comes apart near the end. The set-up is great; a mix between Cube and The Apprentice where the audience slowly learns more while the characters try to find the answer to an unknown question. It's never spectacular or wonderfully deep, but it's fun to imagine where all of this is headed. A shame the reveals seem so lackluster when they finally come.

Good atmosphere but the ending is not that fulfilling, also the pacing was too fast for such a movie.. A calmer movie wuld have been much better.

The rip off of The Grönholm Method. The only difference is the ending. They changed it and it sucks. I recommend watching The Method (2005) instead. It's the original adaptation of Galceran's play. And the whole mystery "makes sense" at the end...

Started out so promising. It could have been great. It could have been a contender. It showed a lot of promise, but midway through you realize it's never going to live up to it's potential. Not bad, but it could have been so much more in the right hands. If Nicklas Bendtner was a movie, he would be Exam.

I like these types of films, but sometimes it feels like the choices they make are too random for them to have been the intended solutions. There are also so many places to look and other ideas they could have done before resorting to more destructive ones. Rude of them to kick out Gemma Chan so early, maybe she could have stopped the unhinged second half.

Entertaining. I saw the ending coming from far away, but it somehow was dumber than I expected it to be. The characters all went to unimaginable levels of stupidity towards the end. This apart, I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't as awful as I make it sound.

About as interesting as a schoolyard game of rock-paper-scissors, and in the end about as clever as the kid who makes a gun with his fingers and declares himself the winner.

it's utterly stripped down and bare. there's no explosions here, no make up or special effects. it's just one room and eight people and a pretty great script. the story gets a bit eye roll-y at times, but i'll be damned if i wasn't thrilled.

Starts off not half bad but slowly gets worse and worse as the movie reaches its conclusion, which is in fact a pretty idiotic way of conducting a job interview. There's not really much to say as the entire film revolves around the mysterious nature of the job interview and once you find out what it is, and how stupid it is, you'll never want to watch the film again.

Here's a question: why does the last 10 to 15 minutes nearly undo the rest of the movie? It's a clever concept, but the execution turns sour. Mistry's character is great though.

'Cube' meets 'Saw' in this average but engaging kammerspiel that is helped tremendously by a great answer to the big question. As always is with this type of genre, characters, decisions and dialogue can feel unbearably forced at times, but I was impressed by the effective intro, that sets up the contenders and their different motivations. Great entertainment for a Sunday afternoon.

Little film (this kind of stories is great for micro-budget) made in the spirit of Cube or lets say the first Saw, reality show with actors. Problem with this type of movies, and this one particularly is that characters are often underdeveloped mannequins representing a character type with only very limited number of traits. There is always an asshole, good guy, hot chick, intelligent guy... I like this type of films, but come on, bring me better characters! (and story).

A fair to middling variation on the “locked room” conceit - starts very well, with some intriguing (and socially charged) group dynamics established and a genuinely interesting mystery to solve. Grows progressively more tired as it goes along, with the characters lacking any depth (or interest) beyond their opening gambits, and even indulging the requisite stretch in credibility, the ultimate “point” of the experiment is too contrived (and you can almost see the shaggy dog’s tail wagging).

Exam is a interesting film that falls short of being really good, mainly due to limitations of the screenplay and the way the characters are written. The acting is patchy in places, but decent overall. The soundtrack and atmosphere are good. Even for a film set in a box with a countdown, the characters are disappointingly one-dimensional. Ultimately that is also what lets the film down in the end.

It's very hard to make these "a-group-of-people-in-a-weird-sutiation" movies not dumb bacause it's virtually impossible to make them believable, the behind the curtain "true" gimmick always turn out to be ridiculous nonsense

In the beginning, this movie was really exciting. But during the middle and onwards, it became almost boring and the ending was fairly obvious. I am no film connoisseur or anything, I just watch cool movies but this time I could foretell the entire movie from the middle. So much potential, all of it wasted in the end with its craving to become a 'Saw' like movie.

The Exam tries its best to channel Reservoir Dogs but without the compelling cast. The premise is fine, these are the 8 candidates for a job and they have to figure out the mystery of the exam to get the job and not be disqualified. It just goes back to the acting jobs of the cast isn't great, everyone feels really fake and phony. You don't feel for any of these characters, and it is the equivalent of taking a locked room flash game and turning it into a film.

Reminiscent of Cube, though not as good and reminiscent of Saw as well, but not as bad. Despite the small budget, mediocre acting and over exaggerated sequences at certain points in the film, it's still not bad by any means. "Every action has a reaction"

Ridiculous premise, and ultra cheap set. Moderately entertaining psychological study of people placed in a confusing pressure situation. A absurd and pathetic exam for the position. Confusing most of the time. I really can't recommend it, but Nathalie Cox was pretty.

Top badass moment? The Invigilator walks into the room, gives out the instructions for the exam to a group of highly-qualified people and then leaves. That's badass. I wish I could be that cool and self-assured. If it was me, I'd have forgotten some of what I was meant to say, made some not funny comments, confused everyone and then left. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

If there is lack of different sets then there ought to be outstanding character building. Too bad here isn't so. Although first 15 minutes are promising but soon gets a bit dull. I blame script and director since actors however mediocre and unknown can't develop their characters only with mimics. Ending is total miss IMO.
