The dialogue is refreshingly modern, talking about having a full relationship without having to be married and keeping the excitement alive instead of 'settling down' like an old couple. So that part of the film was interesting. However the director Robert Florey didn't exactly keep the excitement alive in the movie, as it really sunk into boredom with a fascinating subject for the 30s. It just got duller and more sleepy worthy the longer it went and the climax was absent at the end.

How Bette Davis sees this as her worst movie is proof that a lot of stars don’t truly understand what makes them iconic. So frank and ahead of it’s time

After barely a year in movies, Bette Davis got her first top-billing in 1932 for "Hell's House". She had to make 8 more before she was first-billed again, for this one (though less than a year had passed). Too bad the role didn't suit her particularly well. As an independent-thinking single girl, she's okay. But she marries Gene Raymond--an appealing leading man, but not right for this either--and she ain't the wronged-wife-type. Actually, no one would have been right for this unconvincing mess.

Quite conventional despite the risqué innuendo. Davis is lovely.

No point beating around the bush...this was simply boring. Very wooden performances, the review here by PUNQ describes this one very eloquently. Gave up after 30 minutes and liberally applied fast forward to hop and skip to the end. As for "comedy", not much at all.

I don't know if I'd blame the director so much as the fact that the movie never finds Gene Raymond's character interesting. It's okay, neither did I.
