I found it to be actually pretty funny. But then again, I'm a sucker for low-brow humour. If you're looking for some intelligent laughs then definitely pass this one over. But if you're looking for some goofy humour with a ridiculous plot premise then this is worth seeing.

A crack-team of college professors, odd-balls and a token black guy gear up to battle the supernatural. Sound familiar? Coming from director Ivan Reitman, it should. When it dodges the obvious scat jokes (and I ain't talking "skeet-bobba-loo-bop"), it's actually quite funny. Not great, but good, and easily better than Ghostbusters 2.

Wow, this is a stupid movie. It's watchable because of the clear cinematography, but the dialogue is wretched, the characterizations juvenile, and the excellent actors are wasted in these roles.

If you are ready for some dumb humor and a silly premise, this film will entertain you. It's essentially a rip-off of Ghostbusters made by the people who made Ghostbusters. Never does this movie stimulate any intellectual part of the brain, but it's still fun. Meh!

A strange blend of sci-fi action sensibilities and social commentary comedy works perfectly in this film that feels as if it were a B-production from the very start. The comedy shines through in the writing, and the actors are capable enough to make it work to the point that it draws the laughs it is supposed to, and at the same time provides a bit of visual wizardry usually reserved for intricate sci-fi pictures.

It seems they wrote this film around leftover CGI from Men In Black, believing a lighthearted tone with a few random aliens and some embarrassingly lazy one-liners would be more than enough to keep the public happy. Both the story and script are woeful - you feel for Duchovny, Moore & Scott who are game but have literally nothing to work with. I thought this was poor on its release so dunno why I bothered again over 20 years later: I still might be overrating it.

What a great popcorn flick. If you're looking for mindless fun then just turn off your brain and enjoy. Everything is just well done, and the movie never takes itself too seriously. The cast pretty much nail all of their roles. Plus it was made in that sweet spot before every movie like this became a cgied mess. Yeah, it loses a few points for being what basically amounts to a Ghostbusters redux with aliens, but they're able to make it work, so who ultimately cares.

Reitman gleefully revisits the cock-eyed and ghoulishly funny sensibilities of GHOSTBUSTERS (mixed with a little GREMLINS) to deliver a satisfying comic horror film; while there are some excessive threads which drag occasionally (Scott has some funny moments, but he is basically surplus, and why is Moore falling over all the time?) they can't dampen proceedings; Duchovny may be bland, but he is the perfect counterpoint to scene-stealing maniac Jones ("There's *always* time for lubricant!")

Ivan 'Ghostbuster' Reitman is now chasing aliens as it is bigger box-office magnet proved by Men in Black. Well, the chase is not very successful and doesn't reach to mediocre level. I mean the movie is not enjoyable. Even the actors didn't enjoy, i think.

Seen: 2. I remembered it being somewhat fun and original, so I tried again on a whim. Nothing new to report. Cool concept, decent setup. So many frustrating and nonsensical logic leaps do this one in. What the hell was that courtroom scene? That one bothered me the most. With more care this could have been good.

Some say the movie tried to rip-off Ghostbusters but with aliens. Few realize we already had that with Men in Black. This movie is nothing more than a classic style screwball comedy mixed with the Sci-Fi genre. Which works in its favor entirely because of the talents of David Duchovny and Julianne Moore.

Aliens. The Pentagon. A secret conspiracy involving a military cover-up. David Duchovny. Evolution's various elements read like a script treatment for the next X-Files movie. It even features a Scully stand-in: Allison Reed (Julianne Moore), is a sultry-yet-detached, red-headed scientist whose commitment to procedure and fact-finding allow her to mask an attraction to the more free-wheeling, rule-breaking biology professor, Ira Kane (Duchovny).

Ridiculous, but brilliant. Evolution parodies the genre well, while producing a story and characters that you'll root for. It's a pretty decent monster movie, but really can't be seen as anything deeper than an excuse to put as many weird monster creatures in a movie as possible. It is kind of dumb, especially the way the figure out the aliens' weakness in the end, but it's all in the light-hearted spirit of corny monster movies.

You know how Ackroyd, Murray and Ramis made a great comedy team in *Ghostbusters*? Reitman seemed to be going for the same thing, except it completely failed, imo. The talent of the three leads are ill-suited for each other; it's like a basketball team with only great scorers. I don't remember much about the plot, but I remember that being bad, too.
