Catchiness of songs is weapons grade. Watch at your own risk.

This movie takes what little joy there is in the score (NOT an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan!) out of it. Blech. The only bright light is Antonio Banderas, who committs fully -- and is pretty much the only one in the cast who does.

This style of musical with nonstop lackluster songs is very dated, but Madonna's performance is good as well as the one song you'll recognize.

Has good moments, but the lyrics are really bad, and the music style is all over the place. Hard to follow the story. Overall, very forgettable.

Pretty much just a long music video. I don't normally have this problem with musicals, but in this case I felt that the constant singing was a distraction from the subject they were reportedly telling a story about.

Wow, okay, so people don't like this film. They're probably right in that it's not accurate to the real life Eva Peron, but I never figured I was watching a biography. Madonna and especially Banderas did great. It's one of the better stage-to-film adaptations out there.

A frankly offensive portrayal of Eva Peron

So much worse than I had imagined it could be. The movie has a nice "look", but it's difficult to enjoy because one is continually rolling ones eyes at the clumsy song lyrics with their facile and idiotic "insights".

Really, really bad. There's almost no historical context given for anything that's happening. The "songs" are almost uniformly awful, and of course Madonna's acting is pathetic. Eva Peron deserves better. 32 points for Antonio.

Some actually quite classy directing ruined by Madonna's face.

Epic version of the stage musical with a star performance in the title role, and providing some sweep and power, while still retaining the clumsy narrative and uninteresting music of the original.

A bit overblown at times, but that actually works for this movie about a glorified figurehead. Several of the songs are a treat to listen to and to sing, and I was very impressed with Antonio Banderas' singing ability.

The movie is actually better than the "critics" judged and Madonnas performance is quite good.

Ok so it's not the stage version, but if you enjoy the music this is a good mix of the stage and filmic qualities. A strong and believable performance by the two leads with a strong supportive cast. Doesn't quite reach the heights of the stage version but a good introduction.

I don't think Madonna was made for this part. Too glamorous. She's musician, not actor. Banderas and Pryce tried their best and Alan Parker has made better movies than this one.

Madonna shows her lack of understanding of the character by hogging songs that weren't Evita's in the play, but Banderas is hothothot.

A rather labored long-form music video. It only really takes off when Madonna dances while she sings, and it really serves to highlight the flaws in the source material. Antonio Bandaras almost makes it work.

Terrific modern musical. Madonna is perfectly cast as the, ah, "career minded" woman turned Mrs. Fascist Dictator turned Supermom. It's wonderfully hideous and touching at the same time. Antonio Banderas is great as Che, the cynical narrator who's somehow Everyman and above it all at the same time
