A paean to motherhood under the most straining circumstances, this film places Shirley Henderson's Karen Ferguson at its center, standing between and faithfully bringing together her imprisoned husband and their four children time after time. She constantly gives and sacrifices and aches for something better, without a shred of real appreciation or praise. She abides and endures through a profoundly unfair set of circumstances.
