Not bad, but could have been about an hour shorter without anything of value lost.

Radu Jude might be my fav Romanian director because he always thinks outside the box. This is a visceral farse, a sort of tragedy, and you spend the whole movie yelling at the screen at the wonderful Serban Pavlu playing the main character, asking him to not do whatever he's doing. Mindfucky.

A potent work of realist cinema, reaffirming what a great filmmaker can do with barely more than one location, a small cast and a modest budget. Reminded me of Asghar Farhadi, which is possibly the greatest compliment in my arsenal. And only hints at the greatness of Jude's subsequent period films.

"i was actively involved in all your baths since you were born." ahahaha this guy. at first i was thinking oh great more romanian miserablism about how shitty romania is (hint: it's really, really shitty), lots of think of the children hysterics, and ok i guess it basically is that, but it's also A SEPARATION amped up to 11 and beyond. it doesn't have as much grace or thematic intricacy, but it's nearly as masterfully staged and executed, and man is it fucking nuts.

18 Aralik 2012, bade ile & Film rahatsız edici bir kara mizaha sahip. Kesinlikle çok değerli bir iş. İyilik uğruna yapılabilecek kötülükleri çok başarılı bir hikaye, oyunculuklar ile anlatıyor. İkinci kez izlemek isterim.
