Pretty good (true) story, but I wanted more about the emotional effects of denying who you are, the shame that Perel either felt or didn't feel. That was mostly represented in a couple of very lame dream sequences, while the rest of the movie was a mere retelling of events without much emotional context. I was engaged, but not impressed.

I'm sure that everyone who feels the need to make one more dry movie about the Holocaust doesn't intend to trivialise the events by turning them into arthouse crowd pleasers. For numerous reasons, this 'genre' is populated by some of the most contemptible works of cinema. No exceptions here.

Educational but little cheesy

I think this might have been the first film to start the whole double of the same word craze.

I appreciate the story more than connect with it. The film seems more concerned with hitting its narrative points than with really connecting with the experience of Perel. There's a great idea here, but more exploration of the effects of Perel's shifting identities would significantly strengthen this film.

This was a staple in my German class in high school. The best part is the teacher would fast forward through the one sex scene. The high-speed humping was a cross between hilarious and violent, perhaps leaving a much less delible mark in our minds than just letting the scene play out as is. Good film though.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
