At first it's comes across as a cheap imitation of those dime-a-dozen wisecracking detective films Hollywood used to bust out. Then it gets a little more serious once the investigation starts rolling, still very staged and not really coming to life. But then came the confession and a heavy handed acceptance of circumstances. It's actually that part which became interesting. Even if strong roots in the old style of acting, the more philosophical approach at least felt it had something to tell.
