Été 85

A coming of age show that FINALLY has the GUTS to have a morgue drag show. Imagine, dear reader, imagine the unadulterated glee I experienced after watching Summer of 8 and Summer of '84 to find out there was a Summer of '85 only to discover it isn't listed under that title here on criticker. Quel dommage.

Teen summer story about how hard it is growing up and finding your place in the world -- when sometimes you just don't and keep going. Less existential than I expected -- he has the talent of a writer, says in the end how pleasing it is to escape himself -- but with some weird and amusing bits of romance and tragedy -- it's all sunny and horny and beautiful, but our guy is obsessed with the idea of death. Second half is kinda disappointing -- a bunch of anti-climax expository stuff.

A better summer than mine this year

Young romance stuff, very persuasively and sensually done, and that goes a long way, of course.

What impressed me most about this film was not so much the story but the overall filmmaking craft. The pacing, cinematography, editing, arrangement, and structure are all executed very well. These elements turn a somewhat ordinary story with unexceptional dialog (which may be intentional and simply consistent with the era) into something rather captivating. It's a period film that knows its subject first-hand and doesn't resort to cliches. A surprisingly decent film.

Not your average teenage summer.

Certain character motivations are hard to swallow but this bobs along nicely thanks to charismatic performances, well-chosen music and just enough wit to keep it interesting even when it threatens to descend into silliness.

Kamera, çekimler, kostümler harika ve mükemmel bir göz şöleni sunuyor ama senaryo çok eksik kalmış. Her şey birdenbire gelişiyor ve olacak olanlar kestirilebiliyor. Ozonun diğer filmi Dans la maison ise öngörülememesi ile bu filmden bir kaç gömlek üstündü. Sonuç olarak boş vaktiniz varsa ve ülkedeki yobazları çıldırtmak istiyorsanız 85 yazı izlenebilir.
