While this particular Cannon Films cheap 80's ninja movie is often credited as starting the serious craze of ninja action B-movies in the 80's, its earnest attempt at being a martial-arts-action/drama, unfortunately instead make it feel more like a boring 70's western/samurai exploitation flick. Especially when compared to the 80's ninja schlock that would follow from Cannon themselves. Outside of those curious in the subgenre/trend, I'd recommend the Cannon Films "sequels" over this original.

franco nero as a ninja...if only everything was as awesome as it sounds on paper.

A martial arts film made by people who doesn't have a slightest clue about martial or any other kind of arts. Plot is embarrassingly similar to a number of westerns and samurai films. Except, you know that you're in for something right when ninja takes off his mask and shows off his porno mustache. Very low production and entertainment values. One death scene and the way Nero winks at the zooming-in camera are unforgettable (in a bad way). At least, it seems people working on it had a good time.

All these American ninja flicks from the 80's were fucking trash.

This movie is beyond awful. O my GODDD, I don't even know where to start. The acting (do you call that even acting?), the faults (seeing buildings and a crane in the background of a 'Japanese landscape', someone holding an arrow while falling, a swordslash at the throat with almost no blood and no wound etc). It's not even so bad it's good. Oh yeah the music is terrible, one 'song' sounded like it came from a porn movie. I would feel like a total idiot if I walked around in a ninja costume

Godawful beyond reckoning. I couldn't stop laughing at the protagonist's moustache.

Franco Nero as a ninja is one of the goofiest things I've ever seen.

The unintentional and intentional humor prove this film's strong suit. Unfortunately, the entire second act sorely lacks both. I'd recommend it on the strength of the first act and the final climax, but unfortunately it takes a long slog to get to the latter.

This is a good addition to the ninja craze which swept low budget film producers during the 80's. Enter the Ninja is a Golan-Globus Production. You may remember this company from such memorable hits as the Missing In Action series, and the American Ninja series. If you enjoy cheesy martial arts movies of the 80's this shouldn't let you down.
